In short: Fast flat course with just a few boring bits from time to time In full: This was my first half marathon. They changed the normal race course this year to one that was in the whole flat and as such very suitable for people new to half marathons as well as those experineced runners wanting to achieve a new personal best. The down side to this is that the route misses out a lot of the iconic Nottingham landmarks and to avoid the hills the course takes you through some pretty boring places. Most notable, the course went through the boots factory which is both closed to the public (and so lacks in any atmosphere) and is full of dull warehouses. The last two miles of the course is also run along Victoria Embankment which is where you can see almost the entire remainder of the course as runners had to double back which made for a gruling finale to the race as you run from the mile 11 - 12 markers the whole time being able to see how far your going to have to run back again.
