In short: Fantastic race with excellent organisation In full: I ran the 2012 race, and it was my favourite race of the year. The weather was nice on the day, although the ground was very wet, and not having trail running shoes made things difficult!
However, the race was so much fun, in a beautiful location. There are only two big uphill sections, one at the very start and one at the very end, with the rest being mainly undulating terrain. Croome park is beautiful, and was a joy to run around. There weren't that many hardcore runners there, so you didn't feel intimidated by the competition, and the small number of entrants (250 is the maximum they allow) meant it wasn't too crowded at the start.
The final uphill at the end is a killer, but by this time you're so near the end, it's not too tough. The goody bag was very good for an event like this, with a bottle of water, packet of crisps, mars bar, banana, bottle of water, brownie and a medal, as well as a free cup of tea or coffee back at the start.
I loved this run, couldn't fault it in any way, and hope to do it again some day. Date of review: November 24, 2012
