In short: Excellent race, challenging in the dark. In full: A great little race, challenging enough and a lot of fun. Besides the minor problem with parking (which I believe was due to a local resident being difficult) it was very well organised. The T-Shirt was excellent quality, a good medal and a nice goody bag containing some well deserved snacks for the journey home. I hope they repeat again next year. Date of review: December 15, 2013
In short: Challenging but fun! In full: A great half marathon course, fantastic scenery and enough of a challenge without being too silly. It did get a little congested, but there's not much that can be done about that short of changing the course, which would just spoil this lovely race.
Regarding previous comments by others:
Medal - I quite like it, it's nicer than many I've received. Water - those small pots are a little lacking I suppose, but it seemed to be enough for me. Commentary in Welsh - well, if you study a map, Conwy is in Wales, so what did you expect? French? And besides, I'd imagine a large proportion of both Spectators and Runners would have understood and appreciated it judging by how much I heard being spoken throughout the day. Steven Edwards is an excellent commentator who knows his running, makes a change from the crap local radio guys you normally get lol! Date of review: November 25, 2013
In short: Excellent race but quite hard! In full: Probably one of the most scenic half marathons around, it's a really stunning, albeit quite tough, course. Arranged by the same group that do the Abersoch 10K, the half marathon seems much better value than the 10K - the medal is much nicer (compared to the 2013 10K one), perhaps they are listening to feedback that they need to provide better value for money. Well done sensation group I really hope this becomes a regular event and becomes as popular as the 10K. Date of review: October 7, 2013
In short: Lovely race spoilt by price. In full: Ran this event for the second time, really nice course, challenging without being silly and what stunning views! Overall it's well organised - BUT £19? Come on! Especially since this year you didn't post race packs and withdrew the t-shirt! Despite this being a local event, if they can't offer better value next year I might do Bangor instead.
In short: Nice race, I enjoyed it. In full: Lovely weather, what seemed like a cold morning quickly warmed up. The terrain was fairly good, not too muddy but personally I found the hard earth quite heavy going on the ankles so I struggled a bit at the beginning. Very friendly crowd which was great since I traveled over on my own from North Wales. I will come back and do it again.
A big thanks to the marshals and to all the volunteers who must have been very busy baking those lovely cakes at the end! Date of review: March 3, 2013
