In short: 0.2 short, not enough toilets, expensive In full: I have to say not impressed with this. Firstly to charge £2 for parking is really annoying when you have paid £30 to enter. Its just rude. Then there were only 8 portaloos for all 3 races which is penny pinching. The course was advertised as flat and fast which it wasnt. Normally I dont mind the undulation however I went to the race deliberately as part of my marathon training to run quickly. Then to top t off it was 0.2 miles short. Poor do. In short: Stevie Wonder running In full: The course was 0.2 Km too long although that might age been runner error. For a good quarter of each lap I was running in ear darkness so could well have gone the wrong way. This needs to be addressed. Furthermore I nearly wiped out a couple of slower runners who I couldn't see in the dark. Date of review: March 13, 2015
In short: Chicken Oriental In full: I ran this race for the 2nd time knowing full well what was in store. This year however was particularly tough however with the heat. Running such a race when not feeling 100% isnt recommended yet the marshalls and fellow runners helped me through to still finish under the 5 hour mark. Great atmosphere and always fun to join fellow nutters on such a tough race. Roll on 2 years time. Date of review: June 24, 2014
In short: Rubbish In full: The organisation left a lot to be desired. The hq was far too small resulting in long queues to collect numbers. Serious lack of toilets as well with only a handful of portaloos and 1 meagre trap in the public toilet block. The course was advertised as flat with 6 metres of climbing. This was a blatant lie as whilst it was a pretty flat course there were several hills. To top it off the mile markers were all over the shop which if like me you don't run with a Garmin leaves you unable to pace your'e run accurately. Basil Fawlty would be proud.
In short: Good game good game In full: Great race yet again, only niggle was everyone taking a wrong turn due to a sign being blown over. The weather was atrocoius and the crew have to be commended for the race taking place at all. Date of review: January 2, 2014
In short: Annoying... In full: A good opportunity to get some mileage in (I did the 50K ultra). I was warned in advance but the lack of markings on the course became irritating at the end. The route description was adequate however having to stop every 2 minutes to read the instructions took the enjoyment out of it for me. How hard would it be to put some tape down the night before, at least at the tricky bits or chalk on the floor. Those not familiar with the course were at a major disadvantage. Also having flapjack with nuts in as the only stodge food at the checkpoints was pretty dumb. Date of review: July 22, 2013
In short: Lovely jubbly In full: A fantastic race in the glorious setting of the Cotswolds. Very well signed and marshalled. Nice t shirtage and a free cuppa and cake at the end. Bravo Date of review: January 13, 2013
In short: Basil Fawlty would be proud In full: Superb race for the first 4 miles before descending into chaos. Insufficient marshals coupled with confusing/non-existent signage led to utter confusion. At one point there were arrows pointing in 3 directions. I ended up getting lost and running 9km by the end in a 10km race however lots of people ended up doing even less than this. From a top 20 finish I ended up losing 20/30 places by the end. I really dont understand how hard it can be to organise a 10km race properly.
On top of this the course description was misleading. The 'horrible hills' consisted of 2 hills you could run up! Nowhere near as hard as it made out.
