In short: Brilliant and brutal, all at the same time In full: Massive thanks to Phil and all his team for putting on such a great event.
The organisation was spot on, pre, during and post race.
The marshalls and mountain rescue round the course were fantastic. Massive respect to them for turning out and putting up with the biting cold. In fact, as tough as the course was, I reckon the marshalls had it worse than the runners, having to stand around in such freezing and gusty conditions for so long!
The course itself was really good, with some great scenery, challenging climbs and fast downhills.
I was royally knackered by the end of the race, but still beaming from ear to ear, which is always a sign of a good event in my book. Date of review: March 11, 2013
In short: My favourite race In full: Fantastic event. The organisation was spot on in all respects, from the build up to the event (the pre-race emails, as well as being useful, always raise a smile!) to the day itself.
Yes, there was a delayed start, but only to allow those waiting for buses at the car park to get to the start line. In other circumstances this might have been an issue, but it was communicated well, and there were plenty of places to escape the cold pending the eventual start.
The marshals are some of the friendliest I have experienced, and the runners themselves were a really good bunch.
Value for money is extraordinary - I really don't know how so much can be squeezed out of such a low entry fee. I would pay the entry fee for the quality of the event alone, but add to that a technical t-shirt, a great medal and a goody bag choc-full of all sorts of delights….and you have yourself a champagne race for beer money!
