In short: A well organised event and fun course In full: This was a well organised event that was well marshalled. The course was picturesque in places with good support in the sections that went through the town. Overall a very enjoyable event - thank you to those involved with the organisation of it. In short: BRILLIANT! In full: Wow, what an event... I write this with sore legs and a big sense of achievement. What a fantastic course - miles and miles of wonderful trails with challenging hills and beautiful scenery make this a real "must do". The trail varies between "good" surfaces to some really enjoyable sections that are more technical. Some of the descents are wonderfully fast and of course, if you are flying down steep hills then you also have to go up steep hills..! All in all a great challenge, especially with the heat in this year's event which added an extra dimension.
The organisation was absolutely superb, the race was brilliantly marshalled throughout and the helpers at the water stations were encouraging and efficient. The course was well marked with marshalls warning of more hazardous areas and roots etc. being clearly painted. Thank you to everyone involved with the event for a perfect day.
In short: Great event, unbeatable atmosphere. In full: I had intended to do the Harvel 5 for a while and would wholeheartedly recommend it. There was so much going on prior to the race that I almost had to remind myself that there was a run to do. The organisers clearly have a good sense of humour - right down to the novelty toilets!
The race itself was fun, a fairly fast course mixing road and off road sections. On the whole the course is pretty flat with one reasonable hill towards the end. It is one of the best marshalled events that I have ever run and there was encouragement for the runners throughout. Overall I have to say that you couldn't wish for a better atmosphere.
All in all it is a great value and brilliantly organised event, even the food and drink stalls on the village green were reasonably priced. That said, if I had to sum up the event in one word it would simply be "Fun". Well done and thank you HHHH. Date of review: June 19, 2014
In short: Great fun, wonderful course, well organised. In full: I did the half marathon and I have to say that I enjoyed every minute of it. The muddy nature of the trail demanded good concentration in order to pick the fastest way through and there were a few decent hills to spice things up. It was a well organised event and I would definitely do it again. Date of review: May 12, 2014
In short: Great course, brilliant organisation. In full: What a great event. I really enjoyed the course which included a few nice hills and the odd bit of mud, not too much though! The scenery was very nice which added to the experience. The marshalls were fantastic and deserve a great deal of praise; they were positive, encouraging and very efficent and there were a lot of them around the course. Not only were there bananas at the end but also hot samosas! The results were posted online quickly so it really was a good event from beginning to end. Date of review: October 15, 2012
