In short: Lovely race In full: This race started in London Zoo along the narrow paths then burst out into Regents Park where we had a 3 lap course which I usually frown upon. However, the scenery was lovely and the route was mainly flat. The last few hundred metres finished back in the zoo where we were greeted with a lovely medal and probably one of the best treat-filled goodie bags I've ever seen.
The entry price of the ticket included free entry to the zoo which was a great.
I would definitely be coming back again next year! Date of review: September 21, 2015
In short: Nice race overall... In full: Not gonna lie...I was dissappointed there was no medal - especially after paying £15 to enter. All superficial stuff aside, the race was very well organised with a great atmosphere finishing at the athletics stadium. The race itself had a few small ascents which weren't too challenging. Some of the route took us on to the B roads but there were plenty of marshalls keeping the traffic in check. Overall...would recommend this race for the scenery and PB potential. In short: Great Hill Training In full: I came prepared for this race after reading the reviews from previous years. The race had plenty of inclines to get your quads working but I found that there were also an even number of declines, which allowed plenty of rest on the legs. I somehow managed a PB despite the challenges, so I would say there is definite PB potential for those that like a challenge. The race was organised well considering the 'residential' route which took us through some avenues and main roads. There was the issue of managing traffic that the stewards did exceptionally well. There were around four water stations throughout with water bottles instead of plastic cups, which I liked. All in all, I would definitely recommend to runners of all abilities - especially those training for longer distances. Date of review: March 9, 2015
In short: Challenging but totally achievable for a beginner In full: For my first 10k I was pleasantly suprised by how well I performed. Despite nursing a slight knee injury, I was able to soldier on and complete the course in just over an hour. There were a small group of runners (approx 50) taking part all of whom were friendly but very dedicated to completing the course. My only small complaint (nothing to do with the superb organization of the event) was the number of non-runners e.g. dog walkers, couples, children etc along the course. Having to navigate my way around them messed with my concentration. But all in all a fun yet challenging run and a great day out! Date of review: October 28, 2012
