In short: A great run, even with the horrendous weather. In full: The weather was absolutely awful, however there was still a decent turnout and buzz about the place.
The line up was very mixed, coupled with serious runners and those who were obviously on their first 10k - it worked very well.
The course is lovely - you firstly run through a very pretty village and then out into the countryside. In decent weather, I'm sure it would have been a fabulous route. There are also a good couple of hills to challenge you.
Most of the marshalls were great, a couple could have been a bit more enthusiastic (but it really was dreadful weather):-)
I'll definitely be back next year - and hope that the weather is better.
Thanks for a brilliant run : ) Date of review: January 27, 2014
In short: It started half an hour late - it was on Father's day too. Caused havoc for some of our group. In full: Fast course, very few marshalls, water stops are an absolute joke. It seemed very badly organised - started half an hour late and no explanation why. The race took place on Father's day - people had plans for the afternoon!
Big queues to get into the car park, so get there early. £3 car parking charge too.
Scenery in parts is fabulous. It's a double loop of the course.
Lots of other people using the park and as the route covered all of the public walk ways, at times you were struggling for space, with the faster runners, coming back down the course, the slower runners still going up and the public, going both ways with dogs, bikes, push chairs etc.
The only saving grace is that the location is very pretty and the course is pretty quick.
In short: Ok, organisers are nice people, marshals were great. Comms & organsiation aren't the best. In full: The course is 3 laps round the park, which is slightly boring. You are running along the pavements, which at times are overcrowded, with other people, bikes, prams etc (hence mildly challenging) who are using the park.
The pavements were also quite icy in places and no one had bothered to de-ice them, which was quite dangerous.
It was my first official 10k and I went along with about 15 others. It was an ok experience. Date of review: June 17, 2013
