In short: 40+ miles along the Welsh Coastal path In full: Yes, there is a train from Aberdovey to Harlech but running the distance will be much more of an accomplishment especially when part of an event as brilliant as "Run to the Castle" organised by Denzil Martin from CODRC:) I loved every minute of the almost nine hours it took me to cover the 40+ miles (I ended up doing some "bonus" miles due to getting lost a couple of times, but even that didn't dampen my enthusiasm and the detours were quite scenic). You start at the beach in Aberdovey and then it only gets better - the run is along the Welsh Coastal Path, on a very varied terrain - beach, trails, road, you name it, with wonderful views guaranteed all throughout. Would fully recommend it to anyone looking for a very friendly and low-key ultra in beautiful scenery. Date of review: August 17, 2014
In short: nice local race In full: Lichfield half was my first half two years ago; decided to return to the crime scene today, got a massive 7 minute PB so really happy. The atmosphere is great and good organisation, too but there are a couple of things the organisers should address for next year: - more portaloos! There were only seven or so near the starting line; there were three in the leisure centre which pretty quickly stopped coping with the volume of runners so to say - goody bag - I mean, seriously, a rice crispie bar and a gel plus a bunch of leaflets? Nice medal, though -very congested start, you dash off and pretty much immediately grind to a halt as there is a bottleneck of runners trying to get through the gates
I would do it again, the atmosphere is great and a lot of fellow parkrunners did it - so fixing the above would make it a great race!
