In short: Great race, Well organised, See you next year! In full: I enter roughly 5-6 10k events each year and this year tried the Stoke 10k with it only being half an hour from home. It's a pretty new event, 2-3 times I think and is showing potential I would say to become a big event.
I'll start at the beginning, Me and my wife signed up at the same time, my pack came 2 weeks before but my after a couple of days my wifes still hadn't arrived. I emailed in to inquire, got a phone call back within the hour, they said all the packs went together so may be lost in the post, they arranged a new pack that arrived 2 days later at no extra cost. I just wanted to add this as most races charge for that service, Market drayton charged me £6 so I thought that was a nice touch.
The event it self has free parking, a DJ on in the park where the start and finish line is with some stalls and this year approx 900 runners I think.
The Course is all on the roads, they are all closed which is why I imagine the run starts at 9am.
You go into the City Center and then past the university and then head back through "Fenton" back to the park.
I took part in the potters arf a few years back and that was very tough with the hills but the 10k is actually quiet flat apart from a big hill around the 8k mark, I would save a bit of energy for that one if you dont like hills.
It cost me £14 and I got a sports bottle, good medal and some stuff from nuffield, think it was a free massage.
In a nutshell, good race, well organised, great atmosphere on the day, the weather was even nice too.
I've signed up for 2016 as part of my January commitment and just a point to note is that the website has changed its address, I only knew because they emailed me but its www.stoke10k.co.uk
