In short: Simply lovely race In full: Let's be clear this is unlikely to make your favourite race of all time list but what it does have is a great little course, a great atmosphere and a bit of bling all combined with some terrific organisation. I was chatting to the race organiser before the race and he was so passionate about putting on good events, listening to the runners and giving a good value event that really you can't see how a race like this could ever fail. I rolled up early to make sure I got a space as I feared it might sell out and given the numbers at the start line they must have had nearly the 400 allowed.
As for the race? Well it was flat, it was fast and it was fun, great marshals, a bit of support on the course and every type of runner. I tend to focus on the bigger distances but this was a nice reintroduction after injury. Add in the fact there was a lovely little tea wagon, lots of post race snacks and even a few portaloos and public transport to the start and what more could you ask for.
The bling was, although not a bespoke medal, much appreciated and will sit proudly at the front of my collection until next weeks Royal Parks Half Marathon. I think I've got a bit of a soft spot for this 10km and I think I'll be back next year and maybe even participate in a couple of their other events.
In short: Just good fun, dirty fun In full: Lovely race, well organised and a nice course, not a PB course but a good fun trail race and what more can you ask for. I liked the medal, the free Tshirt and the jaffa cakes at the end. I'd certainly race it again Date of review: September 15, 2013
In short: Challenging but rather good fun. See you in 2014 In full: A challenging course both physically and mentally but the day was fun and the support excellent. Marshalls were perfect, facilities were excellent, the drinks and food on the course were plentiful and the medal alone was worth the trip (throw in the free profesional photography and you have a bargain). I doubt this is much of a PB course anytime soon as the track has a few tough hills. I'm perhaps not a great judge of the potential of the course though as I was running injured but most of us seemed to love it, including myself and I would very much think of running this again next year - especially if the medal is even better (although I'm not sure how it could be). In short: Challenging but worth it In full: The organisation was excellent and the marshals on the course were excellent. The course itself was challenging and pretty scenic, there were a few dull bits like the couple of long roads which mentally made things harder but you expect these things. The bit that really caught me out was the lack of spectator support so it felt like an overlong training run rather than a race.
However, the competitors were good fun and the spectators that were there cheered us on. The medal and T-Shirt were brilliant and the aid stations were very well stocked.
I'm unlikely to do this one again but you never know I didn't run a great race so maybe I've got a point to prove Date of review: May 5, 2013
