In short: Who am i racing? In full: The organisers hold different length races HM, 10M, 5K, 1M & 10K round the same course albeit with different starting times, but I really had no idea who I was racing against during the 10k.
Also, an affiliated entry fee was shown on the Run Britain listing, but not available as an option when I paid directly for my entry 2 weeks prior so all entrants paid the same fee
However, a decent medal and refreshments afterwards. Date of review: August 1, 2016
In short: Good race, but the wind defeated me In full: Well organised race with plenty of marshals along the course on a very windy day. Decent quality t-shirt, medal and cake selection. Date of review: December 9, 2015
In short: Good race but the short hills can catch you out In full: This was my first marathon and got round in the time I was expecting - albeit a bit quicker so all good. Lots of support around the course, plenty of water stations and gels (although I had my own supply), good big medal and technical shirt. I can't recall seeing any mile markers from around mile 20-25, maybe they were there but at that stage I was paying more attention to my watch and pace and knew I had to get back to the pier and it would all be over.
In short: The final hill ruined me! In full: I arrived at what I thought was the car park but this was the drop off area, I was told the car park was just up the road..as there were no signs I parked in a side road. Still no idea where the car park was - I also collected my race number on the day so didnt have an information pack, maybe it was in there? After paying over £30 inc booking fee I wasn't paying for postage as well to get my number.
I was in the white pen (sub 1.30) for the HM, this was at the rear of the start line, so had to work my way through the crowds to get up to the front.
Overall a good course, as mentioned before - from mile 6 the slightly undulating road really slowed me down, the horse track and short hill towards the end finished me off, still scraped a pb though!
