In short: A good multilap course - but short, alot short. (not however in a pb kinda way!) In full: Well organised with lots of parking and toilets close to the reg tent and the start finish. I found the course great with lots of variation of the laps. I personally like multilap courses so found it great however if its not your thing then steer clear as the 12 laps will drive you potty. Mine main gripe was that the course was short. not just a bit.. by over a K! I find this not excusable even if its the first time they've put on the race. Its pretty straight forward in this day and age of GPS, even with a multi lap course. Id happily do it again next year if it was proper distance. Date of review: July 10, 2013
In short: Established quality race price, but below average race In full: Race organisers made fundamental flaws with this and should not be organising races again. 1. Race described as flat. Joke! 2. Don't call people to the start if the course is not clear to start! (20 minutes of shivering is shocking and not conducive to a good time) 3. Only water on the way round? for that price.. poor. Oh no not all the way round as it ran out! 4. Mile markers, when present, were random and not accurate. Kinda important and not tricky! 5. Course was dangerously tight in loads of places on lap 2 and 3. 6. No clock 7. Oh and the idiot mother who pushed her pram out into the race and knocked me over! Baby unharmed thankfully. Some people should not be allowed to conceive.
Summary: Everything that was the organisers responsibility was screwed up and the only saving grace was the fantastic atmosphere from the locals on a damp day.
If you're going to test an event, then hold a test event and charge 10-15 quid. I signed up for this hoping for a GFA time and missed out by a minute due to the cold start, the hills, the bottlenecks and the imprint of MaxiCosi on my knee. Wasted weekend! Date of review: June 24, 2013
