Not a fast course , but a fun one. No fuss organization on the day with all mostly going smoothly , ( although the baggage drop was a bit or a mess , but there was one and it worked mostly ) . The 40m+ climb on muddy hills for the first 3K at the start was a bit of a drain however and 2nd time round it wasn’t as fun as the first time. AS with many trail runs there were many places where single file was required to pass , and even more so due to the mud in places. Many places as well where significant concentration was required to avoid stumbles and trips . The medals were a wonderful touch and the womble makes a lovely distinctive addition to my collection. Might not do it again this year , but would consider it next year again in perhaps its late summer slot when the ground might be firmer.
In short: Sure , Ill be back In full: Overall it was nicely organized. There was a lot of crossing of roads , but the marshals were on hand and very helpful. Running through Wimbledon high street was a bit strange as the footpaths were narrow and by 10am on a Sunday there were a lot of people about , sitting outside eating breakfast. The pack was well strung out by the first time we ran through so it wasn’t an issue. The hill ( twice , once for each lap ) , was a killer . It’s a long slow climb for 1+ K . The only criticism I have is around the last few K on the course . It was very confusing , you start off on a 3 lap of the course ( which panicked me , I thought I’d missed a turn somewhere and was doomed to run a 30K ) . I’ll be entering again next year , however with the hill it may not have a strong PB potential. Date of review: March 17, 2014
In short: Beginner friendly and lovely flat course. In full: A lovely run along the river path mixed with the streets of Richmond. Marshall's were great and crossing roads was no problem. Will be back and would consider other events by the same organizer. Date of review: February 24, 2014
