In short: My favourite race!
In full: The Abbey Dash (2003) was my very first race and it is one which is very special for me. It is flat (yay!) and fast. The support on the route wasn't as good as usual, but it was a cold, windy day so not surprising really.
I didn't pb today, but most of my clubmates did which is fantastic.
One thing that did surprise me was the fact that they were still unloading some of the portaloos 45 mins before the start time! I also had difficulty finding where to deposit my chip.

In short: Hills!
In full: Loved this race last year and brought a load of my clubmates to do it this year. Despite the weather, we all thoroughly enjoyed the race. The hills are hell, but you do get the fantastic downhills to sort of compensate. Thank you so much to the marshalls for standing out in the rain to look after us and cheer us on.
Fingers crossed for good weather next year as I didn't enjoy standing at the start wringing out the sleeves on my top!

In short: A lot more undulating than I thought!
In full: This is an undulating course. It hasn't got the steepness of the hills in Guy Fawkes 10, but they are constant. Very friendly marshalls and great rucksack at the end. Only thing was that the children's race was held at the same time as the adult one so I oculdn't watch my little one running.

In short: Excellent race for beginners
In full: This is the third year I have done this and the first was definitely the best. The organisers have listened after last year though - thank you for the slightly less long toilet queues in the green area (more portaloos would be brill) and I felt a bit more part of it this year with some entertainment on the Headrow too. The only distance marker I saw was at 5k though. Getting everyone into the pens at 8:30 means that a warm up is impossible. I am not sure that I will do this race again because it is expensive and really isn't a pb race if you are a quicker runner. However, I think it is a brilliant race for beginners and those who race less regularly.

In short: A good race, but wasn't flat. Well done on the drinks today!
In full: Very strange running through a multi-storey carpark! Watch out for the stadium finish. It's not the finish when you see the stadium, you have to run around the top of it then out and back in again before you see the end.

In short: Definitely not flat!
In full: A good out and back route. Undulating course, but not too steep and most challenging on the way out. Enjoyed the race and despite the hills I got a pb. Lovely finish in the park. Could have done with more toilets at the start, but that's normal isn't it!

In short: My first Brass Monkey, but hopefully not my last!
In full: Excellent organisation. The timing chips were handed out very quickly (I did need help to fasten it on to my laces however as I had never seen one like that before!). The rucksack that was given out as a souvenir of the race was great. Good flat course and friendly marshalls. The only thing I would have changed was to have bottles of water instead of plastic cups as I still haven't got the hang of that and a shower outside in the winter is not the most comfortable thing!

In short: Fantastic race. PBs for most people in my run club.
In full: I have done this race a few times now. In fact it was my very first one so is special to me :) It is a busy race, but well organised. Definite PB course - I beat my time last year by 5 mins. If you put your mobile number on the entry form you were texted your time a few minutes after you finished too which was a nice touch. See you next year.

In short: Fantastic race. Friendly marshalls. Birstwith Brute is a killer!
In full: My first 10 mile race and what a one to do. Excellent organisation and friendly and supportive marshalls. The Birstwith Brute was very tough (never had to walk in a race before!). Fabulous goody bag and long sleeved technical t-shirt at the end. Definitely back next year. Thank you Nidd Valley Road Runners.
