In short: SUPERB ORGANISATION but twisty, turny, up and down hills, with a tough last mile.
In full: I did think running around Milton Keynes this would be a nailed on PB but how wrong can I be. I seemed to spend the whole time twisting, turning and running up over the canal. Having run lots of half marathons, this had my slowest last mile in 2 and a half years by a long way.

However the organistation of the whole day was brilliant. Race pack was great, car parks easily located, good guy explaining instructions before race, lots of toilets, could sit inside, lots of marshalls, good finish including your name being shouted in, nice medal, food/drink at the end...and a good massage!

In short: Smashed my PB, enthusiastic marshalls & loved the 4 laps. Good choice not doing Oakley!
In full: Only did a PB at 20 miles a few weeks ago at Bramley and took over 2 minutes off my time today.

There was lots of marshalls, all very enthusiastic (on every lap) too which gave motivation the whole way round the course.

Had to make a decision whether to do Oakley or Finchley today and I am so glad that I made the right decision especially as I loved the 4 laps - thank you Hillingdon!

In short: PB with snow before the race then rain, hills, wind and a turn in temperature - great Sunday morning!
In full: I am sure the course was more hilly, more uphill, colder with more wind on the 2nd lap but hey who cares with a PB two months before the London Marathon!

It was disappointing the race started late (no time for a massage after with it being Valentines day) but everything else seemed to run like clockwork.

If you are doing a marathon in April or May, Id really recommend this race in 2011....mainly as you wont get a bum bag again next year!!!

In short: Very hilly but managed to smash my PB!
In full: I was disappointed that the course was changed from last year as I was hoping for a PB however through hard work, I took nearly a minute off my previous best. I was very happy.

Regarding the race, I can understand the concerns about the start but it would only have been for the first few minutes of the race then after that it was a lovely run through the countryside. Liked the drinks stop that could be used 4 times and the number of marshalls (lots of encouragement too)

Got a nice little prize at the end of the race too, thank you.

In short: Quick race, beer for finishing but a shame the finish sprint was through a wet muddy field
In full: Very quick and a great way to finish the year with a PB or SB.

I have not tried the beer yet as I am not going to drink in January, however it was a lovely touch.

Only down side was the sprint finish at the end was through a wet and muddy field. Luckily I was an early finisher and I would hate to think how bad it could have been at the end - could the club not change the finish spot???

In short: Great race, challenging but Bedford Harriers run it like clockwork
In full: Amazing amount of marshalls, all of which were encouraging (which is different!) which helped you around the hilly course.

Nice rugby top at the end however the red colour runs and I now have pink colours on the shirt!

In short: Great way to try to run of turkey, roast potatoes, beer, wine, oh and its a great race!
In full: Race which has a little bit of running around the town before going out to the countryside. Lots of hills and they come up very unexpected even when you have done the race 3-4 times before.

Great organisation, shame they moved to the smaller school in the town but what a great trophy I got!

Will continue to do this race every year as Royston Runners are a good organised club and it does help you after Christmas!

In short: Great race, really well organised from start to finish, marshalls REALLY seemed to care for a change
In full: Only complaint I have is not of the event but the runners. I was trying to overtake people on a road where cars were coming both ways and people were running 2 a breast having a chat. And some car drivers do not seem to like runners!

In short: Pretty quick race at the front, no goodies but still not too cheap. OK but no reason NOT to do it
