In short: The race itself is fine, but there needs to be some serious questions asked about the traffic management and car parking !
In full: As one of the "Great Run" series there are expectations of how well it is organised. Clearly, they cannot control the weather and the course is as interesting as it can be for a city based race. The starts, water stations, finish funnel at all work well - I have no complaints with this side. But, and it is a big but, the traffic management this year was terrible. The pre-race info asked us to arrive by 9 am. From the time I hit the queues (at 8:50) to the common took 1 hour !! And there was a £3 for "a professional car parking service". Well, I've been to a lot of big events - Badminton Horse Trials, County shows and these have much better car parking. Not enough car park marshalls, poor signage, and a lack of thought. Who's idea was it to have the only car park exit lane through the runners returning after the finish? There were loads of runners still arriving and queueing for the loos as the first wave left. So, please Great Run and or Portsmouth City Council and or Hampshire Police have a good look at what happened and make some positive changes.

In short: So it was a bit hot this year but a beautiful run
In full: A superb run through glorious countryside. Mostly off road on tracks and footpaths with a few short ups but good fast downs to match. Well organised and plenty of water, especially at the finish. This was most welcome as it was very hot. Full marks to the wit who put up the "great view ahead" signs relating to Didcot power station. Nice touch. Even though I had a poor run I enjoyed it loads and hope to be back next year.

In short: A great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday.
In full: The course is challenging but the views certainly make it rewarding. There seems to be more up than down ! Very good marshalling and checkpoints with food and drink helped ease the pain. The food at the finish was spot on and results available quickly. Next year I'll try some proper off road shoes !

In short: Well organised, scenic route, good fun ! Oh, and it rained and was a bit muddy.
In full: Now that's what I call a race. Proper multi-terrain - road, track, grass, mud, puddles. It has it all. Superb setting and scenic course. Smoothly organised and a friendly atmosphere. Worth a go by anybody !

In short: Excellent marshalling on a good rural course. Loads of water and sponges.
In full: Even though I had a bit of a poor run I enjoyed this race. The course was rural and what traffic there was kept out of the way ! Loads of marshals - thank you all. Plenty of water and sponges which made a big difference as it heated up. Lots of water at the finish too. Results went up quite speedily. The only thing I'd add would be a big clock at the finish to make you "sprint" to beat a time !
