In short: Wonderful views and super marshalling make for a great (if hard) run. In full: The muggy heat made this tough on the outward leg until the breeze from the coast hit your face at the turn around point. Super boggy in places but that just added to the fun. Goody bag at finish should be shown as an example to organisers of much larger races and was full of useful stuff. Only critcism is regarding parking, hard to reach car park indicated on supplied map because of race road closures, and then they charge £4 to park with no mention of fee in literature. Otherwise simply perfect. Date of review: August 20, 2012

In short: Great scenery with more hills than you might expect. In full: Living in Rutland I run most of this course on a regular basis and it was a pleasure to share it with a few hundred others in such glorious weather. Twice around the peninsula shows a small lack of imagination in route planning given the fantastic countryside all around but is really no big reason not to run this. Lots of happy marshalls and a surprising amount of support around the route (although I suspect the weather helped with this, it may have been very different if it was raining). If you fancy a mix of road & trail for a marathon this one is hard to beat. Date of review: November 7, 2011

In short: Flat as a pancake, so great for PB attempts but not the most interesting of routes In full: Great organisation and well marshalled. Open to any prevailing winds but with a max height difference of 15ft across the whole course you can go for a PB. Goody bag slightly disappointing but given low entry fee, acceptable. In short: Great event to dip your toes in the world of Duathlon. In full: Excellent organisation combined with great Start/Finish facilites, and enthusiastic marshalls all combined to make this a great event. Challenging but not exhausting it is a perfect sampler of the Duathlon/Triathlon world for anyone who fancies a go at these disciplins. Definitley one for the diary for next year (and they do a Tri in June...hmmmm) Date of review: May 6, 2007

In short: Mainly good organisation but let down by minor irritants. In full: In the past parking was free at this race , why now charge runners £1 to park ? and the location of the parking is not well sig=ned from the finish and took a good 20 min walk to reach post race. If the weather was bad this would be unpleasant. Great medal however and great location for finish. Tidy up the loose ends for next year please. Date of review: April 6, 2006

In short: A great day out marred by tragic deaths of 4 fellow runners In full: My 15th GNR (what happened to the other 10 ?) and yet again the weather was (too) kind. This race has moved from June in the early days, through October, and now back to September and the weather has only been really bad once for me, which is amazing given it's in the NE of England. Forget PB's unless you are near the front (like lucky me 'cos I've done it so many times) but chip timing (introduced this year for the first time) at leat means your finish time is true running time and not 'since the gun went off'. Crowds this year seemed bigger than ever, especially on the finishing mile along the coast, and support throught was fantastic. If you have not done this race before sign up for 2006 now !
