In short: FirstSanta run for me but definitely not the last. In full: What a wonderful way to spend a Sunday morning.Picked the Santa suit up from the start and was well entertained by The Batala Portsmouth Drummers who also did a quite unique warm up. Santas's then split into two with some opting for the more leisurely 5k rum/walk which contained lots of families enjoying a Sunday morning jog/stroll along Southsea prom. The 10k set off in the opposite direction but caught up with the stragglers at the 7k mark. Everything ran like clockwork (The sun even shone for the duration of the run). I was presented with a quality medal and thermos cup as a memento which along with the Santa suit was real vfm. A mince pie for all finishers was also a nice touch. What was my time? I have no idea as I left my watch at home. But on refection, would I have beat my PB dressed as Santa? Who cares!! I had a fantastic morning and will be back next year. Ho Ho Ho Merry Christmas!!!! In short: A truly wonderful race and weren't we lucky with the weather!! In full: This is the 3rd time I have done this race and it will certainly not be the last. After the wind and rain last year and the threat of snow and sub-zero temperatures this year the organisers got the weather absolutely spot on. Everything went like clockwork from the picking up of the chips at the start to the soup at the finish. I see some runners are complaining about the lack of encouragement from the Marshalls which I must disagree with. All the marshalls had a cheery wave and words of encouragement apart from a couple who were concentrating on doing their job by making sure nobody got knocked over at a number of road junctions. Even then a quick word of thanks on the way past raised a smile on their (cold) faces. How anybody could get lost is beyond me as even I would struggle to lose the best part of 1000 people dressed in day-glow on a clear Sunday morning. So to finish off, a fantastic race where any profits go to the RNLI. I am surprised nobody has mentioned the fly-by by the RNLI Sea King helicopter or was that just my imagination. See you next year. In short: Really well organised race for beginners and veterans alike. In full: Read the rest of the reviews, they mirror my thoughts. As someone running towards the back, I have a little advice for next year. Get a move on. By the time I got back to Southsea the tide had come in and I got very wet feet (all part of he marathon experience) Its given me the incentive to get the training right for next year so I can finish with nice dry feet. So keep your eyes peeled as I can thoroughly recommend this race and I will expect it to sell out as quickly as London does in the future. Date of review: December 12, 2010

In short: Fantastic run and very well organised. In full: Quite chilly to start with but soon warmed up once you got going. It was the first time I had done this race and was very impressed with the organisation which was like clockwork. Special mention to the cheery marshalls and steel band. They really inspired me to run under 2 hours for the first time. Date of review: November 21, 2010

In short: T he longest hill I have run up since the same time last year. In full: Weather was wonderful and the race fantastic. 5k to the top of the hill then all downhill (except a pretty steep incline once you had been lulled into a false sense of security) looking forward to next year when I want to crack the hour. Maybe not the easiest race for a beginner but definitely the most rewarding. Date of review: August 30, 2010
