In short: A unique and magnificient run
In full: This event hurts. The long drive, early start, 12 hours on your feet and the weeks of jelly legs after. It's all worth it to pass through some of the most breathtaking scenery on this island of ours. To pass the headland at the Lizard and see Lands End 30 miles across the sea, then to approach the finish in the afternoon and look back gives a unique satisfaction. Professional slick organisation (except for the non-sticky numbers!). This event is a treasure.

In short: Great little race
In full: Nothing flash or fancy. You get a road (flat and quiet) and a race (perfect sized field and well marshalled). No carnival. No trinkets. Has the feel of luxury food packaged as Tesco's own brand. True quality without the hype.

In short: A magical mystery tour........
In full: A line of headtorch lights bobbing up a frost hardened hill. Icecrunching, fogconfusing magic.

In short: Chepstow Harriers put on a great race - as always
In full: The organisers certainly know how to tap into your deepest reserves of motivation. Running towards a pub and a pint! Pretty village and a fun low key club race. Running, beer and chips - perfection.

In short: The high spot of my running year again (and again and again and again.......)
In full: Brackla Harriers organised perfect weather for the perfect race. My fifth year and it keeps on getting better. The only race I know that goes through a sewage farm - a truly all terrain event!

In short: A little gem of an event
In full: Remember it's an event not a race! Best way to think of it is a long training run with well placed stops for drinks, cakes and a chat. The scenery is great and even if you are a local you will discover somewhere new. The 21 can be run but the 31 has a lot of very rough paths that can only be walked - hence few manage quicker than 8 hours. The event is organised with great pride and hospitality by the local long distance walkers. Why travel to pound the tarmac when mud and magic is on your doorstep.

In short: A little gem of a race - everyone should do it
In full: Superb organisation and marshalling this year. I have done it in all weathers over the years and it never fails to please. Bring the kids to cheer you on and play on the sand for a great family trip. The high spot of my running year.

In short: A quality fell race for a quality city.
In full: Good intro to fell racing if you are new to it. May even tempt you onto steeper and muddier things. Very well marshalled and some closed roads.

In short: A unique and memorable race. A good excuse to visit this beautiful island.
In full: Take your marathon time and double it. Only one bit of the course could cause navigational problems. Very well organised. Unlike most fell races - there are lots of road crossings - so family and friends can spectate and carry drinks! If you've 'done' the marathon and are looking for something bigger, this could be the race for you.
