In short: A nice friendly local race with great scenery.
In full: Although I live just down the road this was my first year of running this race. I'm so glad I decided to give it a try this year because its a lovely race and the scenery was glorious.

We should remember that these events ARE organised to raise funds for the school, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. There are less races being organised by running clubs these days and these fund-raising events fill in the gaps and enable us to have a few extra races throughout the year. They tend to come with less frills like T-shirts or goodie bags, but I'm happy to accept that for what they contribute to the running community.

Keep up the good work Ashdon PTA, I'll be back next year.

In short: A great race. Greart atmosphere, great course, great top!
In full: My second year at the Stebbing 10, and managed to knock a bit of time off last year. I really like this race, the atmosphere is great, the course is scenic and challenging, there were loads of supportive marshalls, and nice cakes afterwards. I hate to say anything negative, but I feel that the start could have been managed better. As the start is on a public road which is open to traffic, we were asked to go down a side-road to wait. I was one of the few who listened to the marshalls and waited patiently down the side-road while the one minutes silence was carried out. When we were then called to assemble for the start those who had gone down the side-road were stuck at the back and due to the narrowness of the high street and the number of people crammed into it, had no chance of getting to the front of the field before the horn blew. Next time I'm afraid I will stay put in the high street.

In short: A really nice race, small and friendly type of event
In full: My first time at Wissey half and thought it was a really nice little race. Lots of support from Marshalls and supporters along the way, good parking, refreshments etc. Course undulating but no real hills to speak of. The only tough part of the course was one stretch of straight road that seemed to go on forever, although I think it was only two miles.

In short: Well organised, friendly marshalls, but a tough 10m course for a summers day.
In full: I really enjoyed last years 10K and came back this year to do the 10mile race, expecting the same sort of race but a longer version. It turned out to be a much harder course than I expected, with long off-road stretches and more hills. Once again it was very well organised and the marshalls were very friendly and supportive. Do this race for the scenery, but be prepared for a tough course.

In short: Really enjoyed this race, nice scenery, good marshalling, nice friendly atmosphere. The organisers had clearly tried hard to make it an enjoyable race.
In full: Really enjoyed this race, nice scenery, good marshalling, nice friendly atmosphere. The organisers had clearly tried hard to make it an enjoyable race. I would do it again, but I would make sure I borrowed a Garmin off someone, because the 5K distance markers confused the hell out of me. I'm used to pacing myself in mins per mile, and I can normally judge my pace quite well, but when it came to working out how fast to run the next 5K and adjusting my pace I just couldn't do it.
