In short: Every runner should do the Grizzly at least once
In full: Still buzzing after the The Grizzly. The beach, the mud, the hills, the bagpipes, stunning scenery & the aroma of wild garlic!

In short: Sun, sea & that hill!
In full: Nice flat course by the sea with the exception of THAT hill at the end. I should have known that in running what goes down must go up! Very friendly marshals, however the start felt slightly disorganised as it wasn’t clear which direction the start was & there was a slight delay getting going.

All in all a very enjoyable race, which I’ll definitely do again.

In short: Tough but fun
In full: Despite achieving a personal worst for 10 miles by a long chalk, I thoroughly enjoyed this race. In fact I can’t believe that after living locally for the last 5 years this is the first time that I’ve run it.

I was quite nervous before the start being my first race of the year, but the chance to see this beautiful corner of East Sussex which is rarely open to the pubic was too good to miss. Even taking in my lack of fitness this wasn’t the toughest off road course I’ve ever run but it was more than tough enough and the free beer & cakes at the end real made it all worth while.

In short: Great course, excellent atmosphere
In full: This was the 1st time I’ve run the Hastings for a number of years and was only running because of the postponement of the Grizzly. I guess that I wasn’t only one as the PA commented more than once about the very high numbers of runner entering this year.

I love this race it has just about everything you could ask for in a half marathon. Challenging hills, long down hills, sunshine and a brilliant atmosphere. Especially at around the 6 mile mark the crowd was incredible!

All in all a great day at the seaside, it’s a real shame that the Grizzly and the Hastings seem to clash every year, perhaps I need to alternate!
