In short: Very friendly, well organised 10k. Contains a few challenging hills at the end In full: Very well organised 10k. Good parking and was pre-warned on the joining instructions to queue to pick up number on the day - but not a long queue. The race itself was on a very hot day, which meant runners snaking about on the course finding any shade they could. The hills at the end were challenging. Marshalled well and they were very encouraging. OK goodie bag to finish and medal. Date of review: August 27, 2012

In short: An expensive but good 10k with zoo entry/day out included in the price In full: A good run. Quite expensive for just the 3-lap 10k, but if you are planning to stay after for a day out at the zoo after then it is a very good day. Chip timing was good, and just needs to add a cyclist to lead the first runner through all the slower runners who are being lapped and avoid getting in each others way! Date of review: May 28, 2012

In short: A well organised run and great day at the Zoo afterwards! In full: One of the highlights in the running calendar. A very well organised and marshalled 3 laps of the roads within the zoo. Where else could I run alongside Rhinos?! & included in the race entry is a day out at the zoo afterwards - excellent stuff! Date of review: June 6, 2010

In short: Hilly half marathon. Well organised and marshalled. In full: Very impressed with the organisation and marshalling for this half-marathon. Very good parking. The 'fun-run' 5 milers set off 15minutes before us and left lots of room for the half-marathoners at the start to queue in their set order. Chip-timing was excellent. Lots of marshalls along the course all of whom seemed far too happy to be spending their Sunday morning in the freezing cold, clapping us along, and getting splashed at the water stations. Well done all! Date of review: March 8, 2010

In short: A great 10K and a day out at the zoo in one! In full: A very good race for me. Well organised and marshalled on the course. Thank you to all who braved the downpour before the start to set the course up. The weather was perfect once we started and the three laps seemed easier this year than ever before. The rhino at 3k was a highlight! Not sure what happened to the 1k marker but apart from that a really well organised race. The price may be high (especially for those with supporters) but as runners get a day out at the zoo and its for such a good cause its worth it. Well done DRR. Date of review: June 8, 2009

In short: Overcrowded cross-country run! In full: Very good marshalling on the course (& also in the carparks). Thank you for giving up your morning especially in the half hour rain downpoor at the start! The race itself was way too overcrowded and would benefit greatly if they could switch to proper chip start to finish and not gun to finish which would let them let the runners go in waves. Also not great preorganisation, as after entering and not hearing anything, I emailed and was told that I didn't get in - only to receive my race pack on the day before the race! Enjoyable course though and I will be back next year but I will stand a lot further up the field at the start!! Date of review: May 18, 2009

In short: A hilly ten miler that is well organised and well marshalled! In full: A very good race for me. A new 10 mile PB despite the hills and cramp in the last mile! Well marshalled and well organised too. Despite me running a little later than planned I was parked, got to the loo and then the start line (ten min walk away) just in time! In short: A well organised 10 mile race with a cramped start! In full: A well organised and very well marshalled 10 mile race.
The only gripe would be the cramped start and I felt crammed in and unable to find my regular faster stride pattern until well after the first mile marker. Maybe chip start line to finish and letting us off in waves (as opposed to chip gun to finish) would fix this in future years. The course was also a bit twisty and turny but it was well marshalled and any bollards very clearly marked.
It was my first time running this race and I specially mention the cheap but very nice cakes and teas available in the sports centre and also the good parking for those who turned up early too! Date of review: January 19, 2009

In short: A mildly hilly but great half marathon In full: This was my fourth time running this half marathon and it keeps getting better. Excellent chip timing and also an excellent jumper to all finishers! The course was mildly hilly and the last mile was a struggle for me but I really enjoyed it. I recorded my best time for this course but the hills stopped my PB attempt! Well organised and well marshalled too. Well done Bedford Harriers! Date of review: December 22, 2008
