In short: As fun as ever In full: Really enjoyable way to burn off a few calories. This was my 4th time at this event, and there'll be many more. Happy with a proposal to make the main race a bit longer in future years. I'd run it whatever the distance, but if changing the events means more people can participate, then I'm all for it. Well done Pirton ! (but I missed the beer!) Date of review: December 28, 2011
In short: Superb organisation, marshalling and support made the hills seem easier than they were ! In full: First time at this race, and boy, were the hills a surprise to me. The out and back section seemed relentless, but I suppose at least you knew what was coming when you turned around.
I was impressed with every aspect of this race. The organisation was top notch, the marshalls and water points were numerous, and the support in the village was tremendous. And all this without sacrificing any of the 'small local race' feel which I love.
Well done to the organisers. I will be back next year to beat my time. Date of review: September 18, 2011
In short: The positives of lovely scenery and weather outweighed the negative of the unclear route In full: The route was lovely, and more challenging than expected, due to the combination of the hills and the hot weather.
Not sure what happened around the first scheduled water station - like a few others, I completely missed it, so we must have gone off-piste somewhere. I also almost missed a small sign in a hedge, telling me to continue across a road, rather than take the road itself. An extra marshall or two, and/or better signage on the route itself, would make this a really great event. Enjoyed it, though, and I'm sure I'd do it again.
Overall distance clocked was about 10.6 miles for me, but I'm not bothered about this - for me, it's more about a run in the countryside rather than worrying about a precise distance.

In short: Hillier and hotter than expected. Fabulous route and friendly people. In full: Hot conditions and a hilly course made it, how shall I put it ? Challenging. Top notch organisation, and a friendly feel to the whole event. Thanks to all the marshalls and water station people - you were excellent. Loved it.
