In short: A gem of a race
In full: Why do thousands of runners flock to big city races when there are races like Dentdale all over the country.Arrived early parked 50 yards from the start and school where we were fed and watered after the race.No queues for anything, beutiful part of the world, even the wind and snow did not put a dampner on the whole feelgood factor of the event. All for £12 bargain!!!

In short: For a first time effort enjoyed it.
In full: From the chaos encountered at many big city marathons encountered by club colleagues Hull at its first attempt ticked most of the boxes.
Yes the missing mile markers was unforgivable but I managed to get the info from other Garmin carrying runners.Cannot understand the comments re lack of directions the many directional arrows and friendly marshalls how could you go wrong!Well done Hull will be back next year.

In short: Fantastic credit to the organisers
In full: Why do we all flock to the big city marathons and then winge about parking, toilets etc, when we have events like this with less than a hundred runners.
For your 14 quid we had the use of a brand new sports center, parking 20 yds from the front door, enthusiastic marshalls at every turn, local police stopping the traffic at major road junctions, fantastic views of the snow covered lakeland mountains, numerous water stations plus a first for me the facility to have your own bottle at two stations,a hot shower at the finish, more than adequate toilet facilities at the start and around the course, goody bag with t/shirt and medal, endless supply of hot soup tea and coffee.Come on you marathon runners clubs unless such events are supported they will disappear.Well done Dumfries Running Club for a fantastic event.

In short: How tough was that!!
In full: As I remarked to one of the marshalls at the top of the new hill from hell, bet the route designers of this race spend all year pulling wings of flies and lock their naughty kids under the stairs. This is one brute of a race but the glow of satisfaction when you have been there and done it makes it all worthwhile.
Take a bow everyone associated with the organisation, first class in all departments. Will be back next year for more pain.

In short: Blackpool take note this is how it isdone!!
In full: First marathon after the debacle that was Blackpool. My first visit to Nottingham, therefore a bit apprehensive. What was I worried about? Congratulations to all concerned with the running of a first class event.
In answer to a few gripes about marathon finishers having to walk over a mile to their cars suggest they read the instructions provided. Nottingham
Tend to agree that the entry has outgrown the route.
