In short: Brilliant organisation, very handy venue
In full: SP has everything you need from a race - easy to get to, plenty of parking near the start/finish, coffee shops and refreshments on site, easy for spectators to see runners on the course. The course is fairly challenging but not prohibitively so. My only mini-moan this year was the marshal at the sharp-turn around point (not entirely obvious until you were right on it) who was engrossed with his phone rather than making sure that no runners went the wrong way! Other than that, fully up to Purple Patch's usual high standards. Well done and thanks to all involved.

In short: Superb organisation
In full: This is such an excellent little race and lots of gold stars are due to its excellent organisers, marshals and crew. Great care had been taken to fully mark out the course, as there are lots of tricky twists and turns, and in addition there were marshals at all corners - not only guiding the way but cheerily providing lots of much-needed encouragement and inspiration! Very well done to all involved, and thank you for a lovely race!

In short: Restored my faith in this race after the disappointment of 2008!
In full: The beautiful sunny day helped to create an impression of a more scenic & rural course than I remembered, the hills were not as tough as I had feared, and the laps gave a nice certainty about what was still to come. I was very pleased with a sub-4 hr finish time, with the last 2 laps being of roughly even pace, and enjoyed this race very much. Well done to all involved in organising the marathon.

In full: The handheld race-branded water bottle was one of the most useful mementos I've received from a race! And that was in addition to the medal and goody bag ... excellent value.

For a unique distance, it was a shame that my Garmin measured the route as 6.33 instead of 6.55 miles. (Yes, I know not to take notice religiously of Garmin measurements in races, but thought it worth mentioning as the race itself is an unusual distance and the difference was quite significant)

It seemed to be a very well supported race and the marshals were all enthusiastic.

In short: A tough challenge for a good cause!
In full: Do this race because you like the lovely scenery of West Wycombe Park, the views from the top of some fairly big hills (!), and don't mind picking your way through fields of sheep! Don't expect a PB because this is not the course for it, but do expect a good atmosphere and a feeling of achievement at the end of a tough little challenge! Well done to all involved.

In short: A good effort - a race with potential
In full: +
A good flat course (although a bit twisty with some tight turns, slowing down any PB attempt just a little!)
Nice park with good facilities for runners, spectators and supporters.
Nice goody bags at the end.
Local celeb as starter!!
On a Saturday, thereby enabling a weekend double of racing if you wish!

No confirmation or acknowledgement of entry - I wasn't sure whether or not I should turn up! Cheque wasn't cashed until after the event so that wasn't a means of being sure.
No water station, even though the route passed the finish (4 times!)

In full: No-nonsense low-key friendly 5k. Plenty on the course to keep you challenged and interested! Deserves to see a rise in entries for the July race.
