In short: There are better value races out there....
In full: Although the weather was kind, it appears from talking to other finishers that the distances were way out...not so bad for the 10k and half (or should that be 15 miles)but it is hard for those first time marathon/ultra participants to dig deep for the extra miles over very tough terrain. A very poor value event that I will not be repeating.

In short: Brilliant event!
In full: Superb event with wonderful support along the way from all the marshalls & volunteers. One of the best off-road marathons around!

In short: Poor Value
In full: Expensive to receive only a bottle of water, a race diary & an imitation Mars Bar after crossing the finish line!

Not surprising there were only 338 finishers when the organisers do not allow entries on the day, changing of numbers etc. Computers make this so easy & many races I have taken part in allow name & number changing up to half an hour before the start. Hardley need to slacken their rules somewhat before the race numbers start reducing. Having said that, the actual organisation & support was first class....may be it is not Hardley Runners who deserve criticism but the chip timing company they use.

In short: An unusual but must do event.
In full: I have taken part in this event on a number of occasions because it it so different!

Running naked through the woodland site is truly liberating & an experience not to be missed. This year's was the best ever with nearly 60 mixed participants enjoying the friendly atmosphere. There was a meal included with the entry fee together with the use of a superb heated indoor swimming pool. This is a great event & the organisers should be very proud of themselves. Every runner should experience naked running....check out Runner's World for the Tything Barn race & the NF event in September. What have you got to lose?

In short: Excellent race.
In full: Start would be better further down the road rather than than the very congested initial loop around a side road. Parked cars were a problem together with people cutting across grass verges etc rather than sticking to the road. Another point worth making (and occurs at other races as well), is when will very slow runners learn not to be so close to the start line but start further back according to their ability?

Anyway, enough said on the start. This was an excellent race, with an extremely friendly atmosphere in aid of a good cause. All the marshals were very supportive & may I congratulate the organisers for all their hard work. :)

In short: Near faulltless organisation, however.........
In full: A few suggestions in the hope I get accepted next year for my 20th London Marathon & could see them put implemented:

1/ Increase the cost to £35 so that a technical tee-shirt could be waiting in the goody bag rather than the poor quality excuse of the one yesterday...couldn't exactly wear that one with pride. Goodness knows what the overseas competitors thought...the volunteers faired much better in this respect.

2/ A packet of crisps or salted nuts would have gone down well.

3/ To reduce the obvious waste of water & isotonic drinks at the drinks stations, either make the bottles much smaller as most people even in the warm conditions yesterday, only had a small amount each time & wasted the rest. Either that or have the stations every 2 miles between each station, which would make runners carry them & make better use of the contents.

4/ Include a warning to all the ignorant & selfish runners who were too lazy to dispose of the bottles to the side of the road & just dumped them anywhere. Someone is going to have their marathon curtailed with a serious injury unless this is stopped. Why not have large bins after each station to throw them in?

5/ Allow the elite runners to wear a combination of their Club vest & that of their sponsors.

6/ Be able to seach the results by Club rather than just by finisher's name.

It is still one of the best organised marathons in the world but needs a few simple improvements to be perceived as the best...

In short: Brilliant Event!
In full: Just had a fantastic three days taking part in this event. Unbelievable camaraderie amongest all those taking part & all those organising it.
Definitely a "must do" event. Extremely tough in parts both mentally & physically but worth all the effort....let's all of us continue to push back our own personal boundaries by taking part in this & similar events...less than 8 months ago I had never taken part in a multi day ultra challenge...now I'm hooked!

In short: Brilliant event!
In full: Grantham AC & everyone associated with this race deserve huge congratulations for organising such a brilliant event at a fraction of the price of otherraces like the Reading held today as well.

This was my first "Fraction" but will definitely not be my last. Great event that couldn't be improved on. Top Marks Grantham AC!

In short: A tough but very enjoyable run in the Lincolnshire countryside
In full: This was a lovely event to take part with a friendly & welcoming atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the 13.6 mile route, even though the muddy fields took some negotiating. Fantastis even for such a small ogansing club. Well done Ropsley Road Runners...especially for the more than generous goody bag...... Inspired idea giving a hat & a pair of gloves to all the finishers!
