In short: Thought I was going mad In full: Thought my Garmin was having a funny turn when the miles started getting out of sync.
Twisted my ankle at mile 5 due to a runner discarding a bottle in front of me and had to play catch up to try my hardest to make up the lost time and achieve my goal of cracking 1.40 for the first time ever.
Seeing as I ended up at 1.40.52 for 13.5 miles, I suppose I can say that I did it, although the kudos of sub 1.40 being recorded as my finish time will now not happen.
Completely mystified that the organisers can measure a course so inaccurately and that so many runners were left wondering at the end of what should have been a great finish. Date of review: February 19, 2012
In short: Get spectators off the course !!!! In full: A great race, great new route and perfect weather conditions.
However, and this is a big however, you need to sort out the spectators wandering on to the course. I was nearly taken out by a child at mile 12 whose mother chose to let it wander right in front of the approaching runners i.e. me, without a care in the world. Result - I nearly went flying and had to stop dead. Barriers and/or tape would have alleviated this happening and I think it is something that should be considered for the future. That said, I got a PB by 3 minutes. See you next year. Date of review: February 24, 2011
In short: My first half and sub-two but no medal :-((( In full: New home town and where I did most of my training, but where was the medal. It was very difficult running over partially squashed paper cups as the water stations and sporadic local support made it more difficult. Felt sorry for the guy @ 8 miles who was on the verge of collapse and also to the chick at the bottom of the undercliff who had fallen - no marshals, but fellow runners helped her. Please in future provide a medal when you advertise it - my cleaner has already nicked my t-shirt ;-((( Date of review: March 5, 2009
In short: Why oh why are there still no 10k results published a week after the race ???? In full: I entered the 10k and have been published on the website as a DNF Half Marathoner. I agree that the 10k should have started first as the running traffic was difficult and at some points felt I was elbowing people as I overtook. Still I can't complaing as I got a fab of 51.30. Will be back next year. Date of review: October 19, 2008
