In short: I swore after 2012 that I would never do this race again, but in fairness to the organisers, they took our feedback on board and have come back with what could be a great annual North West marathon. In full: The debacle of 2013 left me never wanting to run the Gtr Manchester maratahon again. They listed to our complaints. The start area and race village ran like clockwork. The parking (although a bit steep at £9) was brilliant, being so close to the start and finish. The route was better (no field at Dunham Massey to cross) and the water and fuel stations were plentiful and well stocked. The course was well supported all the way round and last mile was incredible. The only thing i may suggest is to have more regular distance markers, but using a Garmin, it wasn't a problem for me. Congratulations to xtramileevents for listening to what we had to say, acting upon it, and for giving us an excellent day Date of review: April 29, 2013

In short: A beautiful day on the North Wales coast for this spectacular race. I can't think of any other half that gives such spectacular views. The only gripe I have is the queue for medals & t-shirts at the finish. Maybe a better system could be devised? Date of review: November 19, 2012

The course isn't as flat as some woyuld have you believe, but still definite promise for a pb. In full: This is definitely a race to consider for 2013 if you are looking for an autumn marathon. In short: Not for the faint hearted, but an excellent race that should hopefully grow into an integral fixture in the race calendar In full: Matt Ward has organised yet another great race. This was my first attempted at a trail marathon, and I knew I had bitten off more than I could chew after 5 miles. The support staff at the water stations were incredibly friendly and gave amazing support to the hardy souls who stopped for a drink and a chat. I would recommend the race to anyone who is interested in trail running Date of review: June 24, 2012

In short: First Manchester Marathon for 10 years, and based on the experiences described by nearly everybody on here, i doubt many who ran this year will be back in 2013 In full: I was quite excited about this race. First Manchester Marathon for 10 years, potential to become a big city race, and fitting nicely in with the other North West Marathons in the race calender. The weather was horrendous, but there is nothing anybody can do about that. The walk to the athletes village and then back to the start line was probably longer than ideal, but on a dry day, that wouldn't have been a problem. Alarm bells should have started ringing at 8.30am,when hundreds of athletes were standing in a queue trying to hand in their bags. But that was nothing compared to the disgraceful and dangerous scenes at the finish, when all the finishers had to hunt for their own bag in a tiny tent. Where were the organisers? This was a real health risk to us all, getting colder as we stood around. I decided to walk back to the car, get warm and then come back, as i was fearing for my health. Still no explanation or apology for Xtra-Mile who organised the race, but unless they acknowledge they made mistakes and promise to learn from them, I will not be back to run this race again.
