In short: As usual the course incorporated steep climbs and long down hill sections. This year featured floods and torrents of water on the hills. Excellent! Marshalls friendly and unflappable in the face of adverse weather. In full: I love this race. The hills are challenging in both directions, the scenery is fantastic and this year the roads were transformed into deep, fast streams which made it even more interesting! They breed their marshalls tough in Marlow - it was freezing cold, they must have got a soaking and yet they smiled and clapped and cheered us all the way round. Even the t-shirt at the end was good! In short: Was put off by the multi-lap format but it worked really really well. In full: Nice flat course with friendly marshalls. Different terrain made it more interesting than a road race for me. I found the multilap format a real boost - I could count down the 2 mile laps to finish which was mentally better for me than seeing the miles slowly creeping up. Only downside for me was the lack of baggage facilities. You could leave your stuff in the catering tent which I normally would have done but I didn't get the feeling that anybody would be paying attention beyond the half marathon finish. In short: A fantastic course with some tough climbs and some tricky downhills! Marshals superb In full: I loved this race. It is hard but every uphill has a downhill and the last few miles are very fast. My average split around the course was 8.5 minutes. My thirteenth mile was done in 06:54 (I had made sure I had some energy saved for that last sprint). The marshals must be on some sort of happy juice. They all cheered and shouted encouragement as we went round. It made a big difference on this quiet rural course. The autumn colours and kind weather made this a perfect run. In short: Excellent course. The mutli-lap format worked very well. In full: Great race. Friendly, enthusiastic marshals dotted round the course kept on cheering and clapping no matter how many laps we did. I thought the multi-lap format would get dull but given the course and the lengths of the laps it was excellent. Lots of up and down which made it fun. You wont get a distance PB on this course, its in a different league to the usual races. Date of review: October 30, 2011

In short: Rolling hills and cross country style course made this an excellent event In full: Excellent race. I was late to the registration and a marshal gave me a lift to the start! Above and beyond and all that. The course itself is very different to the normal road races I run and excellent fun. Date of review: September 15, 2011

In short: Never a dull moment on this trail race, short start climbs and rough terrian In full: I really enjoyed this far more than a road race and its probably the best trail race I have run. Getting a PB for the 10k is going to be very hard on this course with steep but short climbs all the way thru. You even have to jump over a log at 9k. Fantastic stuff. Date of review: July 10, 2011

In short: Great point to point race. Wet weather made going much harder than previous runs. Baggage was a shambles. In full: Its a good race and the point to point format makes it something special. Wet underfoot made this much harder than I remembered. The debacle at the baggage collection took the shine off the event. Purple & Handy Moves are usually ultra slick. This time it took me 25 minutes to get my rucksack by which time I was freezing cold and very damp. Date of review: November 18, 2010
