In short: The best way to spend a Friday night. In full: My 2nd outing at the Notts 10. It was a truly fantastic event. The weather helped tremendously as the course looked gorgeous.
The course is fast and there are places where you feel you can really step on it (wind assisted!).
My only gripe was the lack of bag drop but the start was near the car park so it didn't really matter.
I'll do it again next year.

In short: It's no substitute for London but a nice local Marathon. In full: The event ran like clockwork and the course would of been fast for me had it not been for the heat. I did get quiet in parts but the support was generally good. My only grip was at about 24 miles (the last water station) there was no water only gatorade. Gatorade at that time in the race is not really of benefit. I would probably do it again next year but as this year it wouldn't be my main focus (I did London two weeks before). In short: A calassic race In full: My first outing at the Ashby 20 and I enjoyed it thoroughly. The course was fine, not as scenic as others have reviewed and the undulations were not a problem. Organization was second to none. My only slight gripe is the finish area. Way too muddy. Also the hoodie is not all it's cracked up to be. I'll never wear it so would of preferred a technical t-shirt. I'll be back next year. Date of review: March 18, 2013

2013 The Sleaford 1/2M

In short: My 3rd outing was my best. In full: Sleaford 1/2 is one of my favorite local events. After missing last years race I was rearing to go for this one. This year the muddy section was fine although still energy sapping and I lost about 30s going through it.
The biggest plus point I can find is the sheer value for money. You cannot get better. For £13 I got a great race, a fantastic technical t-shirt, a hot drink, a banana and a goodie bag.
And to top it off I ran a p.b.
Brilliant.
See you next year (weather permitting). Date of review: February 24, 2013

In short: Essential Marathon Prep In full: What a great event this was this year. The weather was glorious and the organisation was superb. Spectators were brilliant and the technical top great. Date of review: February 21, 2013

In short: A great pre-marathon challenge. In full: This is a very good 15 mile event that provides a challenge but is not to overwhelming. There's 6 hills in total but none to ridiculous. The weather on the day provided an extra test too.
The two laps were not really a problem either. The 2nd seemed different to the first for some reason plus you had a good idea where to push for the finish.
I loved the technical t-shirt at the end. It's good to receive something you can actually make use of.
Well done to the organisers for re-arranging the event after it got snowed off initially.

In short: A fantastic 'local' Marathon In full: My first time at the Leicester Marathon and I'll be back again. It got quite lonely out in the countryside at times but as soon as we headed back to the city things livened up. The marshals were fantastic and the last 2 miles though the shopping area's were fantastic. That hill at he end was murder though! It wasn't even that big!!!! I can't wait for next year.

2012 Woodys Toonie Trot 10K

In short: A fun mid-week race. In full: This is my third year running this event and this year was easily the most challenging.
I agree with the last review. I prefer a short sharp uphill then a more gradual downhill.
The marshaling was excellent and the event ran very smoothly although the start brief did say that there was no train which proved to be untrue. Didn't affect me though thankfully as i was about 1min slower than the guys that got held up. The 10k was more like 10.6k which I didn't mind too much. I'm sure others would of though!!!
I've already had a sneak preview of the course next year and it sounds better so I'll be back for my 4th outing. Date of review: July 20, 2012

2012 Summer Solstice 10k (Race now full)

In short: A much improved race from an already exellent first year. In full: This is was my second outing at this race and it was great to see it improve from an already great first year. The new race HQ was perfect and the 300 strong field was about right for a mid week race.
I took 3 seconds off last years time. Given the wind on the day I was fairly happy with that.
I'll be back next year. Date of review: July 3, 2012
