In short: 4th time and still love it In full: This was my fourth time running this great half.. yes it is challenging and not for a PB but in terms of scenery and organisation it is brilliant.. Love the fact they give you sports bottles-:) some halves can learn from this as impossible to keep a steady pace when having to stop to drink from a cup...great medal and tshirt and the best support ever!!! thanks Hatch Warren runners for all the motivational signs.. made it fun and took your mind off the hills :) Date of review: October 6, 2015
In short: great course and support In full: Loved the course.. some inclines but no real hills.. wonderful that you could set up your own supply table... support from public and marshals was great and nice that as your name was on bib everyone kept saying it and encouraging you. The medal! what can I say??? Huge and amazing!!!!!!!!! only big mistake I made was forgetting suncream on my legs and now a bit burnt :( doh! Date of review: May 31, 2015
In short: love this challenging yet good course In full: second time doing this.. great touches and despite awful weather worth it.. nice that the organiser shakes hand at end and even offered a cuddle! I was very confused by mile markers as they appeared to be well out in places and although garmin just ended up a little short. 19.85....trees? would do again and again as good race for marathon prep.. wonderful medal this year.. better than previous.. thanks Date of review: April 1, 2015
In short: excellent course In full: Loved this race.. one of my favourite this year.. great senic, interesting course.. enough undulations but no hills. organisation great.. water stations very good and lovely medal and technical tshirt.. thanks!!! Date of review: December 14, 2014
In short: as usual great! In full: atmosphere and support fantastic... Water stations brilliant and the fact that they had sports tops or you were able to keep lid brilliant as this enabled me to keep my bottle so I could sip when required the whole way. Marshalls very friendly. Route is challenging but we were lucky with the weather today. This is my home race and the support of my running club was second to none. All clubs and Marshalls were so supportive of each other! A race I would recommend highly.. Date of review: October 5, 2014
In short: excellent just shame about the weather In full: great marshall, plenty of water stops and energy drinks. wonderful public support even in the worst of the rain. great route.. love doing Reading! Date of review: March 17, 2013
In short: good course and smashed my PB In full: Disappointed in fact that paperwork stated we would get print out of our time-that did not happen and still waiting for official results to be posted :( .. the finger chip made my finger numb.. The course was flat, good surface and fast.. smashed my PB by around 5 mins despite the very strong headwind so well chuffed.. I would do it again possibly... just waiting to see if they come through with results as bit of an unorganised feel at finish and left wondering if chip registered.
In short: snowy/icy but fun In full: The conditions were challenging with all the snow and ice but the course was definately good underneath it all.. some obstacles for taller runners with low bridges etc and I believe a club member hit his head :( well done to all the marshalls who came out in it to keep us all on track and safe. excellent medal and goody bag not bad.. had a funny named energy drink in it though 'pussy' ??? In short: not traffic free completely and bit too flat for me In full: Organisation good, not all traffic free which was disappointing as not easy to run on footpaths sometimes. Water in cups which again makes it hard to drink and you have to stop. start not that well organised.. starting areas not enforced and faster runners overtaking many slower ones that should have been further back.
In short: perfect weather and a great PB to boot!! In full: last year was my first half and the hills and weather made it very very hard.. This year after joining a fab running club CPRC and doing the route so many times for training I smashed my Half PB, smashed my time last year and steamed up those hills... Organisation was fantastic. Even the amount of loos excellent! Well done everyone involved in making this a smooth, well planned great race.. Well worth doing and good value especially as they gave away a t shirt this year... well done to all my team mates and well done Basingstoke. Date of review: October 7, 2012
