In short: Excellent for pacing In full: Excellent race for pacing as it is so flat. Managed to pootle round in 7.40 min miles and took 3 mins off last year. Very well organised, lots of parking and toilet facilities. Marshalls very friendly and excellent T-Shirt at the end. This is my race for seeing what effect the winter training has had and what effect Christmas excesses have had. Roll on London Marathon. Date of review: January 28, 2013

In short: Festive frolics in the mud In full: A great way to burn excess calories. Turned up and parked about half a mile from the start, no problem as this gave me an opportunity for a warm up. Delayed start due to the large numbers. Excellent marshalling, especially the man on water tunnel one who seemed to be enjoying putting us through thigh high water. I ran as part of a group so really enjoyed the opportunity of watching some guys come down the steep muddy banks looking like Bambi on ice. I ache today but thats the joy of off roading. Will I be back? Never say never. Date of review: December 31, 2012

In short: Go for the experience alone In full: My first and not last marathon. Frustrating that people ignore the timing pens as they are difficult to pass, particularly those running together causing a rolling roadblock. Will do a quieter marathon for a time and come back to London for charity. Excellent organisation and atmosphere. The people on the streets giving out sweets haven't heard of recesssion and the encouragement was immense. Put your name on your vest if you run as the crowds love to shout out. In short: See you in September In full: As a warm up for London and having missed 8 weeks of training this was my long run for London. As a local I have walked the dog in the forest so knew what to expect. Still frustrated that some people started in the wrong place and also chatting 3 abreast on the way round. The marshalls were very vocal and encouraging. Sadly my chip missed my start but my stopwatch had me at 1h 58 which is better shape for London than I thought. See you at the end of September FOD. In short: Great beginners run In full: Using this as a time trial for VLM. Managed to pump in almost metronomic 8min miles. The slow motion sprint finish was ambitious but enjoyable. Date of review: January 30, 2012

In short: All in prep for London 2012 In full: My wife and I are preparing for Virgin London Marathon 2012 and this seemed like a good step up from the 10k ratehr than a half marathon. Good quick first mile in 7mins and through 5 miles in 41m. Crashed at the last 2 miles but still broke 90mins which was the aim. Pity the water stop didn't arrive until 5 miles. the route evaded the dams which was a shame. Excellent marshalls and well worth the trip. Date of review: November 22, 2011
