In short: Fair event, but concerns on distances or timings..
In full: First go at a tri for a while. Based on the colerne airfield and MOD base. Pretty welcoming event to all..friendly competitors and helpful, friendly people at registration.

Swim based inside base pool, 25m standard issue, then out into the cold to jump on the bike. Rackiing pretty tight together but transistion area fairly quiet as my wave came out. Cycle route on quiet roads, out around base perimeter and then straight along before mile or so steep decline in towards Batheaston...unfortunately just as steep back up! Racking bike up on return and off on the run..around the base on tarmac routes, and then back in on grass.

Overall, not a bad event...a little lacking in atmosphere, a lot of 80's music from Now 5 if my memory serves me. Unfortunately the finish was some way from the spectator area..so even if you had people watching, its far enough to not appreciate their presence when you cross the line. Had been T similar event weekend before and buzzing atmos as runners come down long last drag to finish, surrounded by support. On finishing this race, kind of felt quite anticlimatic.

Even more worrying is discussion of race course being up to 800 m short according to more than one runners garmin. My run time backs this up. Surely undermines the efforts put in to organise an event. Potential to be good fun, but need to brighten it up, and get distances correct.
