In short: mad dog 10k ... great value .. great people ..great route .... LOVED IT !!!
In full: my 1st ever run at 10k distance and at 38 yrs old new to running and when someone asked if i would participate in something self worthy and putting something back in to charity .. why not hey ?

PRE RACE
booking was easy online with lots of info pics and videos on the website as well as a handy facebook page with some great people posting comments of banter and support to others.

VENUE
the base for the race was ideal a big school ideal as it was raining plenty of under cover split into sections .. tshirt pick up ..registration free massage area and much more .. and hundreds arrived you could feel the buzz and the smell of deep heat .. must say some very fine looking ladies handing out free drinks water / energy drinks lovely gesture..

THE race
start was delayed due to sefton council but who cared ..plenty to do and plenty of nice people to talk to .. finally around 2500 runners lined up of all ages al abilities in the rain but who needed the sun with the coastline was awash with mass hi viz .. the route is windy if it doesnt get you on the way forward it will as it doubles back to the finish ..

ENTERTAINMENT
on course bands brazilian steel samba band provided shivers down your spine and kicked off a great buzz for all runners while elvis appeared by the pier providing classic tunes and humour .. also free bottles water was provided round about the halfway mark and marshalls and air cadets were inspirational providing not just a clap but real heart felt encouragement to all they were the stars much needed for 1st timers like myself who needed that extra push and when they weren't there i found great pacemakers behind some of the parbold pink panther ladies worth keeping up the pace there :-)

THE FINISH
well i as approached the finish line of my 1st ever 10k run i guess i got the bug .. the people shouting clapping and massive feeling of self worth and the end .. priceless !!

VALUE FOR MONEY
the goody bag was amazing packed full of drinks biscuits sweets glucose tabs vouchers and a lovely big heavy medal as wall as your tshirt which is not just a momentum but a great running shirt to be worn again .. if you dont think you get value for money i will give you a big kick up the bum and slap your face because the organisers have put everything they could into a great day for me that wont be beaten .. gonna do another one soon but mad dog set a standard i'd say wont be beaten ..look forward to the next on 2014 ... amazing thank you mad dog ..john
