How has it been? I had that same feeling start last year. However it has progressed more like metatarsal issue. I have got insoles for everyday shoes which lifts the foot up to take the pressure off the metatarsal. However when I run now my second toe gets very sore after the run and walking the next day or two after is painful! My dr says to rest. However reading up on it, it's not an issue that will go away???
I had this just at the end of last year. Kept hobbling through runs thinking it was a calf strain. I went to see a chiropractor who felt it was the soleus. He did some 'stripping' of the muscle which was excruciating as it was so tight. It left me black and blue! A noticeable difference that following week and he advised to keep running but lots of stretching (as described above). I had one setback about 4 weeks later but some more 'stripping' out of the muscle and stretching out it feels better than ever. Have done a few 8-10 mile runs and not a tweak!
I know I shouldnt let myself get all worked up. I was quite taken aback by the seriousness of some of the ladies at the training day! Like you I just want to have a go and my aim is to do it and have enjoyed doing it!
The transition area did make me think- bikes are racked with everyone opposit to the other, you must have hat on before lifting bike off rack (otherwise time penalty), must have back wheel over line when going out, and not let front line cross on way back in........ How is one to remember it all on the day!!!! It is good to know there are other like minded folk out there going for the fun of it.
Off to Greece for a week, so hopefully I can work on my swim inbetween entertaining my girls! My other half plans to have us out there snorkling. And as I have been braving it with my face in the water for short bursts of crawl I will have a go at it this year! I seem to have a panic about having my face flat down in the water!
Enjoy your session on Sunday.... Good luck with it. I look forward to hearing how you got on. I will do the same when I get back....
regarding wetsuit I think I will hire one.... I have been looking at a few different sites. One site hires for a week or month! If I did the month (more expense....) I could try an open water swim. Mind you I did get a good feel for it on the training day and am happy to set of with breast stroke. It is reassuring that others will be doing it too.
I am a bit daunted at the though of putting it all together..... and remembering the transition area etiquette!
Can I ask.... do most use a tri belt? I am assuming for the bike you have your number on your back and front for the run? Also what happens with your number for the swim??? Do they issue swimming caps? As on footage all were wearing the same colour! Its all these little things that get me worked up!
Any direction will be much appreciated.
Off on holiday next week, so the plan is to swim and run (tho not good in the heat).... will have to push on with the bike on return.
Good luck with the dry run.... and to everyone else with their training.
