that why i need to train like a b*tch! Never say never...
Bmth sand would be rather difficult, but the pier front would be fine. You must know it to call it Borneo... were you a uni student? Enquiring minds want to know..
p.s. don't live there any more as I.T. jobs are all up here in Berkshire! Still a country lass though as am in village called Sonning so can run along the Thames tow path. Beautiful on a slightly cold Sunday morning run with or without a hangover..
p.s. anyone fancy meeting for a run on beaches in Bourenmouth? Sounds strange but its a gorgeous 5 miler (depending upon the route) either on the beachfront (concrete) or on the sand and if you go early sunday morning its dead quiet... my home town so am being called back to the sea... since so many people's names keep cropping up it might be nice to arrange one happy family outing!
Always in need of a challenge! Keeps me sane and out of trouble...(housemate always pleased too as sport makes me calm..) although i am not sure about the heat. NY a few weeks ago was pretty cold for the marathon - about 6 degrees and pretty windy. I kept a full sleeved top on for the whole 4.49! Funny thing was i didn't seem to sweat either....
As far as this thread and music is concerned, i had Justin Timberlake going around in my head during the marathon (Christ how annoying was that!) and when his voice died out, i was hitting mile 23 and the wall was upon me. Like a stuck record i began soundlessly chanting "Pain does not exist: The wall does not exist" just to keep me going. It becomes strangely rhythmical as you step each foot on each main syllable of the sentence...
Fire Putter Outer:
You're scaring me! But yes am up for 10k anytime. I aim to hit 45 mins (my next challenge) for a 10k so have some serious speedwork to get in beforehand!
New track to try... there is a track by Supertramp which is amazing but i do not know the name. I read that it fires up a dancefloor in seconds! (prizes for first answer...)
On a more hardcore note try Jane's Addiction - I Put a spell on you - version on Natural Born Killers album. Amazing.
just checked out your photos... the pics are good. Where did you stay? I am eagerly awaiting my finishers photo although i don't think it will be too pretty! Tried SIS energy gels for the first time and was VERY VERY ill during the run.... a few times... but still managed 4.59 so am kinda pleased for my first one. Had an amazing time at mile 16 over the Brooklyn Bridge as i heard english voices shouting 'Oggy Oggy Oggy'... etc (only the British)
Unfortunately i had Justin Timberlake song 'I Just Wanna Love You Baby' in my head for almost the whole 26.2 miles. No comments needed thanks guys..
It was an amazing experience but i wasn't quite expecting the epression i suffered the next day. 6 months of challenge completed is a disconcerting experience. Am now planning to do a tri in Dubai or somewhere equally strange and get my 10k time to under 50 mins as soon as my legs feel light enough.
