Unless there is an interloper I don't see anyone beating VL's time in the near future either.
How many miles you doing ES? I do about 30mpw, less than half of what it once was. That seems to translate to 45 secs slower over 5k, 1:30 for 10k although some of that must be just getting older. I wouldn't race longer. I enjoy not feeling obliged to run to keep to a plan, but then turn up at a Parkrun and think not long ago I might have won that, or maybe have got an age category prize at a race. Having said that the top 2 v50s in the country are local, and neither of them of them are Running Rob (who is probably in the top 5).
VL, I don't think you will get a refund, just a voucher to put towards your next journey.
Take a copy of the club record list and keep it, in case someone else beats it. Having said that, I can't think of anyone who will beat it anytime soon. There might be a few pretenders next year, but they are unlikely to make the start line.
Talking about v50 SARQ, I see the slower of the Green brothers ran 2:32 at London. You are not a v50 are you? You don't look young enough!
2:45 off a 35:18 10k will be a tough target, but not completely out of the question if OMOC has built up his endurance. Maintaining 6:15 pace for the last 6 miles will be a test of mental strength! 2:55 however seems too pessimistic.
At least some people will be happy that the sun is forecast to be replaced by showers and grey skies over the week-end.
