I can't speak too highly of this new race - a lot of effort had obviously  gone into the planning.  OK so the course wasn't all that flat but it was such a scenic run by the mere and along the canal.  Good marshalling and well signed.  My only gripe was the long queue for the goody bag but it contained a quality whicking t-shirt so worth queuing for!    The icing on the cake is free race photos - and all this for under a tenner.    I will definitely be recommending this race to others -hope it becomes a regular fixture.

Lack of water at 9m mark was a disgrace and entirely due to people picking up water at 2m on the way out of Sefton Park. why did they allow people to do this when there was a water station coming up at 4m? With the weather as it was today lack of water could have led to casualties from dehydtation.

Great Ocean Road is the one to do. I have just come back from Melbourne and visited Apollo Bay and drove the GOR. I think it is run in May which of course is Autumn there. I would dearly love to do it but can't justify another trip down under just yet.

I totally agree with extreme muzzy. i did this race for 12 years in the days when you could just book a night in a hotel in Newcastle or Durham. Now all the accommodation is stitched up by nirvana and you must either run for charity or pay through the nose to enter via the ballot.
