Hi everyone,

Last january @ 56 years old i decided to enter the Chester October Marathon. I entered 5 half marathons during the build up to the Chester event.

Since October i have'nt run. My weight is up by a stone & a half. I have just started to run again with the local running club, we normally do a 7 - 10k gentle jog twice a week. The day after my gentle jog feels like a post marathon soreness. Whilst i am buzzing & feeling great after the run & looking forward to the next session the stiffness & soreness for four days afterwards is debilitating. I wondered if i should take glucosamine or painkillers etc. Can anyone advise on my condition? Thanks BTW.

A superb venue yesterday. Could not fault anything, really well organised, good route. Great support from all the people of Chester.

Mixed feelings about my own performance. Started with a cold last monday & was in two minds but it`s was i set myself out to do in January so i thought do it!! First marathon, did ok up to 18 miles then ran out of steam was overtaken by a banana. Was on to do 4.15 but ended up about 4.50 i think. Missed the clock. Overall i really enjoyed it & big thanks to Andy & Chris.

After all the HM`s ive done, the early morning getting ups @ silly oclocks there is no way i`m going to miss. Good Luck everyone. Its what we`ve trained for!

Set myself a target of doing a marathon this year. Have done 5 half marathons so far each one becoming easier. Built up the mileage & did my last 10 miler on sunday. What happens monday...........................................I start with a cold.  Am streaming with the stuff. Dosed myself up with Night Nurse for the past two nights. I hope i`m better for sunday............................
