Hi all, I did the 1 mile Derwent Water swim the other wknd, (slowly!) and have entered the 3.8k swim in Ulswater. Friend of mine was there at the weekend doing a triathlon, and he said the water was really warm! |

I am similarly incapacitated! GRRR. Tore my calf muscle last week playing badminton and still on crutches. Mine was sudden and immediate pain on going for a shot, and I was immediately unable to put weighth on it. I was doing an Ironman in 7 weeks or so time, but won't be now. MC23, sounds like the same area of the leg as mine, in which case its the gastrocnemeus muscle.
I was told by the physio that it would be 6 weeks-ish to mend, and I believe it depends on the serverity of the tear, how many fibres are involved. Lesser tears can take 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile all I am able to do is some gentle stretches, and I have a heel raise inserted in my shoe - which does help.
Sympathy all round. |

| What is this device? I have recently torn my calf muscle, am already going demented with inactivity, as I hobble about on crutches. The NHS physio i saw said there was nothing I could do to speed recovery, and it would take about 6 weeks to heal. Not good when I was doing a big race in 7 weeks time! I would give anything - within reason - a go! |

| Hi JeniFred, I get that at certain times of the month, normally about the 21 days mark, and I think its due to the fibroids I have. Once the blood starts pumping, its seems to set the pain off. Usually goes off after a few mins though. If in doubt I would go to Doc, but I am pretty convinced this is what happens to me. My sister, who is a nurse, and also has fibroids, experiences exactly the same. I might add that the fibroids don't cause any bother at any other time, just this. |

I wonder if thats the same type of vibrating maching they have in the David Lloyd club, its called a power plate. I've been using it myself.
Ironwifey, I have felt dizzy on and off the last couple of days. I went to Commie this morning and had no oomph, felt weak and very, very, hungry. I can't stop eating today. Maybe the Audax took more out of us than we thought?
BtS - How's the bot?
