Lawrence,
There is a Leisure centre next to the Race HQ - Less than 5 mins from the start. You could use the lockers (can't remember for sure but think its £1 refundable). I have also left a bag at the race HQ in a corner (obviously at your own risk)
Good Luck

Fantastic pre London build up - testing run on country lanes - I ran my best race ever 3 years ago on this course came 17th in 2:19 (a real one off for me) blew up in London 4 weeks later and have never ran as well since. Still I will be back and hopefully running it again this year (a lot slower I must add). well organised and good fun Go for it

Runners need have also opened a new shop off Middlesex street near petticoat lane - closer to the city if thats where you are. They also have a treadmill and will check your running style/gait.

It works for the London Marathon - Perhaps other big races should have start pens with Marshalls checking that everyone is in the correct place. Having said that I think the problem at Reading yesterday was a lack of Marshalls on the course and the police wouldn't allow it to start until other Marshalls from the start got out on the course therefore Reading probably has not got enough people to Marshall the pens like at London. Like you Vicki I also ran Reading in a similar time and many of the people at the start (sub 1:20)had what I would call non running kit on and trainers more suited for tennis than running - some of the may have run the first mile quick but I didn't see anyone after that that wasn't dressed as arunner.
To make things worse the Start at Reading is fairly narrow for 9000 runners and therefore a bit of a bottleneck.

Saturday gets very busy. If you can go earlier in the week you will spend less time on your feet at the expo.
