Well run PPP - sorry I was just too wasted to ask how you'd run at the finish, Mrs Bob was waiting patiently and I'd just been struck down by cramp after finish.
2.38 which I've got to be happy with but should have done better really. 3rd V50. Ultimately I think lack of long road runs. Running over the hills through the winter just doesn't prepare for the hard pounding on the tarmac and my feet really suffer on the hot road.
According to Virgin train I was the first runner back to Manchester. I had to be back to collect mini Bob from elite coach.
I thought that I'd set off slowly and ran a steady half way split but it still felt harder than ever in the last 5 miles. Marathon really kicks you when you're down. I just about held it together thinking that PPP would be trotting past if I didn't dig in down the dreadful 800-600-400-200 finish straight.
And well run everyone - marathon is just so hard - respect for all your efforts.
