I did a 4:59 swim!! and a DNF. Not sure where they got that time from - time 1st seen retching by canoeist?
Given the merchants had to change to cash only due to inability to use card machines (no signal) I suspect a change of venue due to lost money!
Saturday registration was due to close at 1 but at 1:30 the queues were still 20 deep. They were surprised so many registered on Saturday but given that it is a location out of the way it's a journey there so I wasn't surprised. I managed fri as we finish early and I made it with 10mins to spare
yep I ended in T1. I think that the bus chaos getting there wound me up which when added to the waves splashing in the face making me chock etc just got to me.
I joined the bus queue to get there at 5:40 and got to T1 after the trip and walk at 7:10 during which time I was worrying about not having nutrition on the bike as we had been told T1 closed at 6:50
I got my blue bag before it was taken away (otherwise I would have had nothing to change into at all) but wasn't able to get my bike and red bag until 2:40 by the time they opened the lorries that had been sat there for hours!
Was talking to 1 lady whose hubby was diabetic and his insulin pump failed. The paramedics *who weren't paramedics* didn't have any insulin and when he asked if he could get back to the start and his spares he was asked if he could get his own way there 'cos if they took him someone else may need them! Insulin is a matter of life or death in some cases so this is a terrible response.
I didn't appreciate getting my white bag in the finishers tent with everyone celebrating either!
