Been a busy last couple of weeks for me, so just read back, some cracking racing across assorted distances, well done everyone. Also good to see some lovely recoveries happening.
Usual recovery for me after The Fling - no rest days and a 10k about 10 days afterwards (in fact a low-key 1mile time trial 2 days afterwards with a DOMs-inflicted 6.15 my result).
Rather excellent stag weekend away just there involving Windermere Marathon after a 10 hour pub/curry session the day before. Not the easiest course at the best of times, but LS21's singing and njord's "mobile sewage works" dragged me round in a wonderfully enjoyable 3.34 (inc beer stop at 20mile). Most fun I've had in years! Toot toot!!!!
Will read back when I can, a fair bit of time needed methinks.
Yesterday's race was going rather well until about 37miles (on course for a big pb, and a potential sub9) until a bit of a tumble along the lochside (very technical section) which caused increasing cramps and spasms for the next 18miles or so. Ran out fluid too, which didn't really help. I wasn't giving up though, so MTFU'd and kept moving forward. The last 3 miles in particular were very unpleasant and pretty certain that I experienced the "ultra shuffle"!! Sub10 with a 9.55 and 30mins faster than 2 years ago. Perfect conditions and an incredibly stacked field with both m & w course records tumbling.
Those of a nervous disposition should look away now....
