Not been around for a couple of weeks due to some work stuff going on, and then a cheeky week on hols in Cyprus - a few miles exploring the coastal paths around the SE corner (kind of above Ayia Napa), but not as much as I'd have liked due to having the binlids with us. The same goes for the nightlife of Ayia Napa, although I'll take that as a relief! 7am taps aff miles.
Well done to the Chicagoers, Yorkies, and Abingdoners. Those who have nailed it deserve it.
Have only skimmed back, so may have missed something important, no doubt ES will let me know what I've missed.
Re the Masters selection, a pal who ran 3.02 at Chester got a V55 place for England. Hope for all/most of us I suppose!
Out of ultra interest, one of AlanB's clubmates (actually 2, husband and wife) ran 249.93k at European 24hr Championships. Despite a 9th overall, and Team Silver medal, I bet he's gutted over those 70 extra metres!!
In case I don't make it back on again, good luck to the Frankfurters.
Great racing RS, LS21 (standard cock-up race prep!).
Alan - good luck with quack. Out of interest, did you GPS yesterday? quite a few rumours about the course, a couple of pals had it at 13.01, and 13.05, and GPS should read a wee bit long, so..... Might explain why quite so many fast times. You know how it is with you and short courses My mum is a batty old bird isn't she??? For the rest of everyone - she's 75+ and runs a half in 2.10, about 56/57 for 10k.
Confidence boost with what would have been sub18 parkrun yesterday, if I'd known to stop at the finish line, and not 15m short.
Big result of 2.57.11, hw split of 1.28.30, almost perfect. Will do for now
LMH - sounds like TR has a plan which will work for him, and seems dedicated enough to complete it - a simple mini-LMH-version is what you need. As he says (and he is a wise old chap), the hardest bit is stopping running and focussing on doing the other stuff that will help when the running starts again.
Padams - not sandbagging at all I'm afraid. A dose of the lurgi which hasn't shifted much in a week, lack of quality, a helpful of old age, and knowing that Njord will have beers in the house on the Saturday night pre-race all add up to a healthy helping of realism. 6M at MP on Monday felt more like 6M at 10k effort
