This time last week, I was covered in midges supporting a short-arsed Mohawk somewhere along WHW. He ran a stormer. Super-proud of him. I won't reveal too much, but I did get to rub my hands up inside his shorts. And he liked it
Slow trail 10k/6M race last night in 42.02, not a fast course, but beat a rival (who dipped under 36 recently) by 30secs or so, despite a school-boy error of having to stop at 2M to ....ahem..... step off the course for 30secs. Would have been first vet otherwise, d'oh!
Just like Joolska, life is just too busy, so a quick skim back reveals wins, podiums, and the majority of the fred doing ultras - NICE (as a great man once said) on all accounts.
Particularly impressed with LMH for the obvious reasons, and AlanB (70mpw in "just coming back" mode is going some)
Looking forward to this weekend as I crew for the short-legged one with green shorts at WHW. I'll be running anywhere from 20-30miles on the day along with filling up the pork pie belt at regular intervals. I doubt he'll stop for a pint at this race.Mind you......
AlanB - that last leg of WHW is (in comparison to say Inversnaid) actually pretty easy. Maybe you could come on over to the dark side one day? Drmchapel went really well, with some excellent fun provided by the local stoners walking past the community cops. Bet its the first time a parkrun has ever had a delayed start to a drugs arrest!!! Challenging course, so when I say I ran 20.15, and was pleased enough, it tells you just what it was like.
Wardi - I think I'd be better off trying to protect the locals.
LS21 - bring your sunblock - tis roasting indeed up here!
AlanB - fwiw, parkrunning at VP with the buggy will always be a challenge regardless of how near the start you get - as you clip past on the 3rd lap at 6min/M, folk will just get in your way. Try Springburn or Strathclyde for wider paths. New event starting this sat at Drumchapel - https://www.parkrun.org.uk/drumchapel/ definitely NOT one for the buggy.
bains - is it hot down with you too? The fatigue could have been caused by that?
