I am 65 years old, grandfather to 5.3 grandchildren and belong to the Midland Masters AC. I have run 17 marathons and have a GFA entry for 2009. Since the age of 60, my marathon times have worsened and last year my London time was 3.27. I wish to revitalise my running and show, that there are still possibilities for improvement for the over 65s. I wish to run next year’s race in under 3.15. I believe that coaching and improved nutrition will help me to achieve this goal. I think my target is challenging but achievable. Why, then, should you choose me? Firstly, I have the personal qualities which will enable me to make full use of the offer you are making. I am: v positive yet realistic;v enthusiastic and determined;v able to challenge myself beyond the comfort zone;v flexible in thought and ready to try new ideas;v able to relate well to others;v self motivated but able to work in a group situation. In short – Supergrandad! Secondly, I have access to facilities and time to enhance the help you offer. I:v belong to a health an fitness club with good facilities;v am retired so have ample time to train and rest;v will be available for events and activities that are planned. Please help the aged and let us together show that challenges can be met and all is not lost when pensionable age is reached. We can do it!
I had this problem with the dates on the 9th December (see earlier in the thread) and have found no answer yet. I have given up and am using the schedules sent weekly to my computer. As I am new to the Garmin I am not quite certain how to use the information (though useless in its present form) anyway. Is it worth waiting for??
I have downloaded the schedules onto my PC and then onto my Garmin 305. When I look at the schedules and put them onto my Garmin calendar, the schedules end on March 13 which it tells me is Marathon Day! I have entered 13/04/2008 correctly before downloading. Can anyone help a poor old veteran?
That marathon in Italy sounds great (More Jogger than runner) I did Florence in November last year and it was fantastic. Can you get cheap flights and where do you fly to? I got to Florence very cheaply via Ryanair (to Pisa). How did you enter?
