Hi All. Only skimmed the last few pages - you don't log in for a few days and have 10 pages of posts to catch up on!
Sorry to hear about the ongoing injury concerns. Sure it'll be OK on the day.
Marmite - Cracking run at Epperstone. I laboured to 57th. Think I definately had Paris still in my legs as I was running on empty for the last 4m. Blew up going down the hill - whats all that about? Still ran 37:03 for 5.9m which is a minue quicker than I did last year so not too disappointed
SaintJason - I followed your supersix thread when you did the GNR. Though I was running similar times to you (at that time). Sure you'll crack the 3 hrs no problem. I'm hoping to go sub 85 at Sheffield next weekend.
Anyone got any training tip for next week. Ran Paris 2 weeks ago and am hoping to go for a pb at Sheffield 1/2 next week. Wanted to run it on the back on the marathon training so just was thinking of jsut keeping the legs ticking over and no speed work to try to freshen them up a bit.
Managed my first run of any distance since Paris. Thought I'd have a week off as I came back too soon from London last year and got injured. Did 11m Sunday at 7:15 pace any legs on the whole felt good, although a bit tight towards the end. Followed it up with 5m in 33mins yesterday so have a day off now.
Marmite - look forward to hearing the recommendations. Some quick times at Belvoir at the weekend.
Justin F - I didn't really follow the taper given when I did Paris. Raced a 1/2M 2 weeks before then just eased it down with a few runs at MP but no real speed work. Sunday before did 11 with 2m @ MP in the middle and it worked for me (2:57) I also only ran on the Monday & Wednesday of marathon week (mainly because I was travelling to Paris).
Mad Superman, Again awesome run in Paris. What's your current weekly mileage and structure? Height and weight?
Cheers again. Your progress over the years makes what seems impossible seem possible. Before Paris the thought of runing 13,1m at sub 7's was scarey enough let alone 26.2m! Really pleased that I only died in the last 2m and my slowest mile was a 7:31 (M26)
Before I Xmas I was doing about 40-45mpw over 5 days but I upped it to 50-57mpw since Xmas over 6 days for the marathon. I added in an extra easy run at 5m.
Basic structure is long run at the weekend, club efforts on a Wednesday and Steady fast run Monday. Other runs are usualy steady or easy depending on what I'm doing or have done.
For a marathon I usually get up to 20m early and try to do 7 runs at 20m or above going up to 23/24m.
Height - just under 6 foot. Weight - 72kg.
Cheers for the tip. Still sounds a challenge to run that for half the distance!
I alway think you 'd have to go out at 6:30-6:35 to get a few mins in the bag as I wouldn't be confident enough to think I could pull out 6:40's for the last few miles.
