Just got back from a great weekend in London with my club mates and supporters. Big congratulations to those who came in with pb;s and well done to everyone who finished with still very impressive times even if it was not what you wanted. Commiserations to those who had to pull out.
For me it was a race of 2 half's like a few on here. My intention was to go through half in about 1.27 which I managed and hang on in there to come home in under 3. I knew from my long training runs that it would be hard as towards the end of them I was always tightening up in the glute, pelvis and hamstring. To try and stop this happening I had been doing core exercisers at the gym and they have paid off a little as I ran 3 minutes quicker than last time 2 years ago.
Came home in 3.00.30 but still very pleased and 12th (50-59) in my age category.
Best of luck to my old codger running compadres Brian and Wardi may those old legs stay fresh and carry you far and fast!
Best of luck to everyone else too.......hope you all have a great weekend and you are rewarded for the effort and dedication put in. But most of all a big thanks for all the posts on here that I have read that can only help and motivate others.
I'm off to London Saturday morning so will be at expo for 11.00ish. Can't wait!
