Get another TSH in a month or so. My result was borderline (8.7) - i had thought the lethargy, exhaustion, headaches, dizziness, needing to go to bed at 9pm etc were due to my marathon training. My antibodies were negative - they just record positive when they are over a certain level - . After a second raised TSH (5.8)and lowish T4 (12.8), I was started on thyroxine, and stopped feeling old relatively quickly, could run uphill again and my hair stopped falling out. Interestingly after about a year of treatment my TSH went up further, and I have had to increase the dose. I assume this is when my thyroid packed in completely. I wonder whether us runners get symptoms earlier (ie. at a milder thyroid underactivity) than more sedentary folk as we push our metabolism harder??

Have you been in contact with AYME (under 26 year olds)(association of Young people with ME)? They have information and web forums etc. Action for ME also useful - for all ages.

www.ayme.org.uk
www.afme.org.uk

Rest, rest and rest. Find a baseline level of activity and only increase very gradually (10% or less per week). School, university etc are not nearly as important as good health - take time off and defer.

It has been my son's severe ME that started me running (stress busting) - it is important that you look after YOURself too.

An update.... It is now working although some water visible behind the screen - possibly between two screens. I think it is slower to pick up the satellites than it was, but otherwise seems to be working just fine - still only recording me as using 23 calories/mile.....I know I'm a plodder..but.

I'm storing it in the airing cupboard in the hope that the last bit of trapped water can evaporate and escape!

I like a bit of grippy elastic along the hem as the cycle shorts will sometimes ride up assymetrically (VERY unflatteringly!) without. I like some from New Balance - (plain black - the safest colour scheme!) but I always go up a size ie. a medium, though I would take a small in a "baggy" style. Then the the elastic isn't so tight....

A glimmer of hope - I tried switching it on again last night - it came on for 2 seconds - screen message "low battery" then died. There is still water visible behind the screen so I am loathe to try charging it yet! Have ordered another 201 from Amazon, but having read the above comments I will cancel it and go for a 205 intead. I'll keep it myself if the other one comes back to life again!
