Did the run on Thursday morning. Lovely day with great views. It is is still pretty muddy in places so prepare to get dirty, although just think of the BBQ at the finish. Did 78 mins. Looking for 72 on race day.

First year of taking part in the tough ten. very well organised and nice memento upon finishing. I have walked along the pier many times as a child and adult. I think they must have extended it or was it that my legs had had enough by then. Highly recommended.

Did the GNR last year and had a nightmare finding accomodation. Had to stay in the Hilton which was charging more than i could afford. My tip for anyone trying to find accomodation is to look further afield such as Whitley Bay. Whitley Bay is serviced by the Newcastle Metro so getting to the start etc wont be a problem. i would suggest going to http://www.ncl.ac.uk/travel/maps/metro_full.php
This shows a map of the metro and you can see just what a wide area is covers. i then went to the thompson local pages to search for B&B's. I hope this advice will help some of you out as i had a nightmare last year.

If anybdoies after a HRM then i got one in Halfords today for £19.99. It has all the usual and includes 6 training zones. Thought that a HRM for under £20 was pretty reasonable.
